Brought home the R-Spec!

Thanks, when they're done I'll post some pictures. I've determined that if one goes with this wide a wheel and tire one needs to stay in the in the high 30's for offset and one must choose a wheel without a lip. I'm holding my breath....'ll see?!?!

LOL, yeah I hate it when ever my wheels give me lip.

Actually I do! They are very nice. Much better than photo's. So now I am torn - I love my new wheels too. I may still sell the stock or I might possibly keep both and alternate. After all, we do get about 10 days of rain here during winter... Is that enough justification?

When I get a chance I will take some pictures with stock in back and new in front and post for others to comment on as well.

OK - So between work and family I have not had time to fully detail my new Genny. I refuse to drive it (other than the 5 mile test with the family) until she is protected by high end wax. Also, there is some dirt from her trip out to SoCal that I need to clean up.

However - I do have my new wheels/tires on. As I mentioned, I put on two of the new wheels and took pictures so that I could see with both shoes on at the same time. I have made a clear judgement in my mind already. What do you folks think?

PS - in the background of the first picture is our beloved Acura TL-S... if anyone is interested in a 71K mile, 10-year old wonderful car

I like the new ones - but I'm still partial to the R-Specs. I do admit that they don't come across in pictures as well as they do in person. Just today - an hour ago - I was stopped by someone when I got in the car to tell me how awesome the wheels looked. They're unique. The aftermarkets you have on there look great, but not much to distinguish them from any other aftermarket. Drive it for a couple of weeks with the original, then new shoes and see the compliments rack up with the ones she was shipped with

Definitely appreciate the feedback. There is a fellow forum member interested in buying my stock wheels. If he goes for it then I will be committed. Otherwise I will do as you suggest.

So the car had 42 miles on it when it arrived. The claim from the sales manager was that this is the average due to Hyundai track testing all vehicles and then of course all of the shipping area movements, test drive for various inspections, etc. I am still wondering if someone had a joy ride. My Acura had 7 miles on it when I first looked at it and 8 miles on it after the dealer inspection.

Today I spent over 6 hours in the garage neglecting my poor family doing the detailing on my new Gene. I am amazed by this car. I never thought I would ever own a car this amazing and beautiful.

So after cleaning all the road crap from the car (note to self - negotiate for covered transport if I ever do this again), I then proceeded to adding the rear spoiler (www.carid.com - 217 painted) and the wing badge to the back. And of course the Vertini Hennessy Wheels (19") with Continental Extreme Contact DW 245/45 19 tires. Then I used Meguiars Ultimate Polish with a Porter Cable Dual Action polisher. After that I applied Meguiars Ultimate Paste Wax (synthetic polymer). If you look at the last picture you can see how amazing this combination turned out. The depth and clarity of reflections are stunning.

Tonight I loaded the family (five of us) and drove to church. So I could not open it up too much given that we had kiddos in the car; also I wanted to ensure everything was copacetic with the wheels. But oh am I amazed. I have never had a car nearly this luxurious. The power is effortless, the handling is heavy (in a good way) and precise. Wow! I mean Wow!

I look forward to doing many more miles and getting to know the amazing features of the vehicle.

To be blunt, that's bull$hit. I had something like 12 on mine when I got it and you think they'd go through very similar processes given that these both went to dealerships not far apart from one another.

All that said - I doubt the drive did any real harm to it and I'm sure you're no worse off.

I drove the 5.0 today, and came away impressed. I haven't driven the 4.6 lately, but did drive the 3.8.

I can only compare the Genesis to my BMW. I thought the ride was a bit more unsettled on bumpy roads, but not enought to turn me off. I am in Florida, so most of our roads are in fairly good shape.

I am trying to get the dealership to match the circle price on the 5.0, and they are reluctant to do so as they do not participate in the program. I may have to drive a bit to get a better price. I don't think that I'd have any problem getting a good discount on a 4.6 or 3.8.

I just have to decide if a Hyundai is right for me. There are some BMW features that I would miss--full power passenger seat and HUD. I have been a car "snob" for so long, it's not easy to change.

I've never been a BMW owner but I can still relate. I recall getting my first car with climate control where you set the desired temp instead of traditional A/C controls where you had to fiddle with the fan speed and temp manually. The first day I got the car I thought it was silly fluff. After a week I realized I would refuse to ever buy another car that didn't have it!
