A/C Always On?

I am not sure about this, but I have the feeling that even when the HVAC is off auto that the a/c is running if the temperature levels are low enough. I am just selecting fan but the air coming in seems colder than I would expect. Also, I noticed a water puddle under the car afterwards. Any thoughts?

The AC doesn't have to be on Auto to be running. Try pushing the button that says "Off" to turn off AC completely. You can still use the fan then for fresh air.

Thanks for the response. Just so I am clear, even though the a/c button is not selected, I still need to press the "off" button to ensure that the fan will only produce fresh air? Seems a bit counter intuitive if that is the case (i.e. shouldn't the non-selection of the a/c button outside the auto function mean that fresh air through the fan operates?).

IMO...You'll drive yourself nuts trying to work out the Korean logic as applied to the Genesis Climate Control System...

I agree that it appears that you just get a meaningless vote into the decisions that it makes with regard to the AC Compressor and it may very well choose to run the compressor in some circumstances, even when the light is OFF on the AC button.

Seems similar to way the Democrats want to run the country....

I noticed this as well when I first got the Genny.
Yes the A/C can be operating even if the A/C light is off!
Pressing the Off button then adjusting the fan speed is the way around it.

Okay, if this is so, what is the purpose of the a/c button? The a/c is on without it being pressed so what does pressing it do? Really turn it on so we can be Arctic more quickly?

I've only noticed this behavior after using the AUTO mode.
If AUTO is not used the only time I've seem it come on by itself is during a windshield defog, which it does automatically.

You don't get to decide, you just get to vote...

You only get a YES vote with the button. Button ON means you want the AC Compressor ON...Button OFF means you want the car to decide...

...either way it is still up to the car whether it is on or off...

Wouldn't the auto a/c be an aspect of the auto defrost?

I'm pretty sure it's independent. Defrost should come on automatically if needed, regardless of your settings.
Though for the most part I leave mine on auto at 72. On a ver hot day I turn it to off before exiting because I want to lower the windows to dissipate heat before turning on the AC. Which is a different topic.
