Not surprisingly, the Equus finishes 4th (in part due to its more "soft luxury" orientation), but R&T sees the Equus as a credible player in the RWD, luxury flagship sedan segment.

The next gen Equus will take things up a notch to better compete against the Europeans.

We learned a lot about our extended-wheelbase foursome in these varied venues. Scoring best was the Audi A8L 4.2 FSI Quattro Auto Tiptronic Sedan, in part with its all-wheel-drive composure and extended-wheelbase roominess—not to say its extended-nomenclature moniker. The A8L was also two of our four In My Opinion personal choices. The Jaguar XJL Supercharged scored highly as well, largely on its sporting factors. It was the other two of our In My Opinions choices. Those who covet the BMW 750Li Sedan or Hyundai Equus needn’t lament, either. All four of these proved transports of distinct personalities for that trip to Palm Springs—or just about any other luxurious sporting-life destination.

The Equus isn't even offered in long wheel base form in the USA. So the only short wheel base car came in last, shocking...

The comparison says that the Gen/Equus is long wheel base, hence no need for the"nomenclature" as on the others.
Overall a fair revue (IMHO). And since I never aspired to the others at $35-$40K more, I'm happy they included it.
Not that I give a crap about "journalists" that drive the car for 2 hours on somebody else's dime.

While the standard Equus isn't a LWB, it is similar in length to the LWB versions of the 7 Series, LS, etc.

The LWB Equus which isn't available in the US is nearly limo length.

I could see me trading up to the Equss if and when it gets AWD. Heck even though I just picked up my 2012 4.6 Genesis... i feel like should make a trip back to the dealer and have a look at the Equss!

When I bought my Genesis i didn't even look at the Equus. Now I wish I would have.
