  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all... Was wondering if any current Genesis owners are former GS350 owners and how they compare the ride and handling.

Most of the comparisons I'm finding focus on trunk and interior space which aren't really a concern of mine.

I'm going to GUESS that the Genesis rides firmer and handles better. I think that's a pretty good guess, however..

There is apparently an all-new Lexus GS line coming in early 2012 as a 2013 model. Getting some pretty good reviews by those who have had a chance to test drive a prototype.

Its time for a GS change...had they revamped earlier I might be reading a Lexus forum! It'll interesting to see the changes.

very informative review.
to summarize:

1. genny 4.6 is similar in ride quality and performance to GS350
2. genny is bigger, heavier, and roomier inside
3. genny costs at least several thousand less
4. lexus gets better gas mileage

easy choice, unless you really want that Lexus badge.

I would add. The 4.6 can use regular 87 gas, and is considerably larger. It can accommodate 5 adults easily. The GS is a much smaller car. However, the ride quality in the GS is much better than in the Genesis. Neither are sports sedans, but the Genesis leans more in that direction.

I own both cars currently. I like the Genesis 'Big' Car feel and ride better than my GS350. The steering feels tighter on the Genesis too. Anything else you want to know? My Lexus rattles like a cheap toy.

I looked at and drove the GS...it doesn't 'ride' better than the 2012 4.6 and it's at least as quiet. GS is considerably more $ when configured equal to the Genesis.

I chose Genesis DESPITE the fact that AWD was not an option and I had to swallow hard to do that.

Keep in mind a new GS is coming and apparently Lexus is trying to get serious about making it more emotionally involving. Here's a look at a prototype from Car and Driver:

Since they labeled it a prototype and not a normal early peek, note that anything they say about handling should be taken with a grain of salt. Stuff like the interior and engine are set in stone at this point, but they'll be tweaking the suspension and transmission shift behavior right till the end of development.

This just gets us excited to see what Hyundai does next!

They already released the new version 3 weeks ago @ Pebble Beach, no need to speculate:

Where are the Audi rings? Lexus is reduced to copying now? I expect Hyundai to imitate but not Lexus... all the while Hyundai is now evolving into their own 'style'.

That is a pretty nice looking car.. says I cant afford an A8 so I settled for Lexus.

I can't afford the time spent in the dealership for fixing problems on German Cars.....Forget the initial pricetag.

Amen to that. Been there and done that. Even with a fantastic 3rd party B/B warranty it was way way too much drama.

I think that's a great looking car. I didn't like the old GS's styling. And this one starts off with adjustable suspension and paddle shifters. The drivetrain is ho-hum, but I bet the F Sport model next year will be excitin'.

I'm very glad I got the Genny but it's always nice to see healthy competition. It pushes all the car makers to constantly improve.
