If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have the 2011 ultimate equus. My trunk keeps opening by itself evey once in awhile . It is not my key since I have isolated the key in a separate location.

The next problem I have may sound crazy. Every 30 to 40 seconds I hear a noise while in my car that sounds like a faint horn beep.

appreciate an answer from anyone...thanks in advance saul stockhamer email is glosaul@comcast.net

Haven't heard of either issue here, Genesis or Equus. May as well ask your dealer to check things with you in the car too: especially the horn. Wouldn't want them saying they didn't hear anything.
Let us know.

I'm interested to know what is causing your issues. But one thing about the trunk.. when does it open? when you're parked? and hopefully not when you are driving!

Good luck in finding the cause..

I feel bad for you.
Brand new Horse and having problems.
Please let us know what the solution was.
In the mean time, have a nice ride.

I am having the same trunk problem with my 2011 Genesis Sedan. I thought I was going crazy. I also had a problem the other day where I lost all sound to the audio system, radio, nav, usb, the whole thing. I shut it down a few times but that didn't help. After I had it parked for a few hours the problem corrected itself. I think you have to wait for the system to boot/populate before you can start pressing any buttons. I had hit the seat cooler very quickly after starting the car that day.

Drove forward out of my parking spot and the trunk opened. Embarrassed to say the fellow waiting for my spot pointed it out to me. I've blamed it on my pocketed FOB but now I'm wondering. First problem with my 2011 Equus.::confused:

Mine opened after starting the car, in a parking lot. 2011 Equus Ultimate

Please contact Hyundai and let them know about the Audio, radio, nav and usb shut down as you are not alone. I have contacted and voiced my concern about the problem and also a lack of a fix for the problem.
I think we need to flood Hyundai with calls over this issue as it as been said the squeaky wheel gets the oil. Your hitting the seat cooler nor any other buttons had anything to do with this.

Ive had the trunk open, by itself, 4 times now. Each time after being parked for more than an hour and up to 24. Hyundai has been notified and I was given a case number. The local service department is stumped but would like to correct the problem if nothing else to keep be from comming back!;) Been there 3 times now. A different problem has also occured with the trunk. I attempted to open it with the trunk latch handle...it unlanched but wouldn't power up. I lifted it up, against resistance, then it closed with the truck closer button on the lid. Closure was normal. This is getting annoying, not to mention embarassing!:(

Local Hyundai service wants the car for a couple days to try to duplicate trunk opening when doors unlock. I've asked what will they do to fix it if it's duplicated there. "They don't know." So, I'll play the game but if the problem recurs or not, the solutions the same. :mad:It's not thrown any codes yet so why should I be driving around in a older model Genesis while my new car sets in Their service stall. Hyundia phoned tonight to say they were still waiting for information from my dealer, who had not returned their call. :grouphug:I asked, what about the other customers with this same trunk opening problem? They said they knew of no other reported problems. When I mentioned postings on this forum the guy said they didn't look at the site. I suggested "Hyundai" look, then contact those individuals posting here for more information. Basically told, in so many words, "not their job!" :oWill keep everyone here posted.

Re: trunk

5 times now, my Equus Ultimate trunk has opened on its own. We, my wife and I, think it may have something to do with opening the locked door with the handle, then unlocking the remaining doors with the lock/unlock button inside the car. Thats when the trunk opens...but not every time.:( Left the car at the dealers this morning, as requested, as they hope to duplicate the problem there. Still no guidence from Hyundai as to a potential fix, even if the problem is duplicated. My dealer is trying to help! Seriously!:grouphug: They had a Genesis loaner waiting for me, dirty as all get out but when requested they did wash it...kinda, a little bit! but now I remember why I traded my Genny in for the Equus. (The Genny Sedan ride is still too firm for me, and the steering is much heavier also.) I want my Equus fixed. Oh, once again I was told there have been NO previous trunk opening problems reported to HYUNDAI!

Re: trunk

Not surprised, really, but technician hasn't been able to duplicate the trunk opening problem. Cars been there 2 days now and I'm leaving it with them 5 more in hopes that the spurious signal reappears! Dealer is trying!!!:o

Since they're opened electrically, I'm going to say that there's some faulty wiring or a short somewhere. I'd give Hyundai customer service line a call.

Try setting the lock/unlock function to open ALL doors with the handle. Im guessing a short that will open the trunk at the same time, but at least you'll know before you even get into the car.
Haven't experienced this yet, please keep us informed.
Thx.

Saul -

I have had my '11 black/black Signature for two weeks and have already noticed the trunk problem. (Now I know why that truck was honking at me on the Interstate!)

So far the only thing I can figure is that I must be bumping the interior trunk release button with my knee as I exit the car. I plan to watch out for that for awhile before I call the dealer.

Disable the remote trunk release button with the valet switch in the glove box (assuming the Equus has this feature)...this will narrow the possibilities for accidental operation and may help provide a clue as to the source of the problem.

My dealer told me to be attentive on exiting the car too. But since the seat moves back on exit, plus I sit back from the steering wheel anyway it's darn near "impossible" for me to "bump" any switch. Kinda a grasping for straws solution! Sure hope you report it again, and again until this issue is resolved for all of us experiencing the frustration of "can not duplicate." :(

Believe me, I called and received a case # immediately! To date, no solution.

I like that trouble shooting idea. When I get the car back, if there was no fix, I'll do it your way. Great idea! When some action is taken, I'll reset the system to only allow the drivers door to unlock again. Can't be too careful you know.

Thanks Richard, when I get the car back I'll look for the switch. Anything to help "Hyundai" fix problems like this, not to mention having some pride in their product.
