Sprint Booster does "work"

I had a Sprint Booster on my 2009, transferred it to my 2011, and now transferred it to my R-Spec.
First a few words on the accelerator pedal. It is basically a reostat. The part number has not changed from 2009 to 2012. Hyundai, like all mfgs is loath to change parts unless they absolutely have to.
What the Sprint Booster does, in my opinion, is to boost/change the output signal from the accelerator pedal, probably by boosting the voltage.
The effect is much quicker and more sensitive throttle response. More important to us is that the transmission kick down is quicker.
I am very pleased with the Sprint Booster and can fully recommend it without material reservations. My only reservation might be that Hyundai is rumored to have a transmission software update in the works. I would not hold my breath waiting for this as the transmission complaints were made on the 2009 and no software updates, to my knowledge, were ever issued. The 2011 transmission is better, but it is still improved with the Sprint Booster.

If enough owners complain formally - in writing - I think they will do something about it.

But if we just complain to one another - it seems to go nowhere

the service manager near me said that, a software update for the 8 speed is coming -

Personally, I think it's going to take Genesis owners- flooding hyundai with complaints- that will prompt them to offer a software update for the new 8 speed

Hyundai does not care in the least about existing owners. They will fix it if they think it will get cause the car to get better reviews and sell more new units in the future if they fix it.

However, publicizing the issue on a forum such as this, does impact potential new buyers. So if you talk to HMA, I would mention that you are discussing the problem with many others on this forum.

Just installed my "Sprint Booster". Only took two days to get here. I made a mistake and ordered the one for the automatic transmission..duh! However, with the sport mode selected I am more than happy and will keep it. I did a very short test drive. Of course the throttle is much more responsive but the thing I like most is that it keeps the car in first gear considerably longer just under normal acceleration. Without it my car, unless the gas pedal was depressed relatively far down, would up-shift out of 1st almost immediately. Have not had a chance to do any downshift tests yet. The up-shifts in manual mode take about half the time they did without the booster. The entire gas pedal assembly slides down and out after removing the bolt under the plastic cover at the hing of the gas pedal itself, 10mm socket . The "Sprint Booster", unlike the picture in the directions, has two plastic plugs connected by wires. Easily installed, almost idiot proof, even for a non mechanic such as myself. The wires and plugs tucked nicely between the plastic gas pedal housing and the transmission tunnel. I put the selector wire in the same place then under my floor mat and the selector itself under my seat. Of course, I'd wager my gasoline consumption will go up.

I should have added that Sprint Booster makes two versions: auto trans, and manual trans. I was advised by Sprint Booster to choose the manual trans version as it is more aggressive in the most aggressive of three modes.
Obviously, the Genesis sedan does not have an auto trans, but the coupe does. What this tells me is that the coupe and sedan versions are completely interchangeable.

Put some miles on the car today. Still love the "Sprint Booster". With sport mode selected, and the transmission in auto mode, the car will some times downshift two gears almost instantaneously. Rey, left the car over night, came out and started and found the selector light off entirely. During my driving today I checked the light after every start and it stayed red. I figured out the problem. By simply laying the button under my seat it was striking something and would change the setting. I extracted my cranium from my rectum and took some black Gorilla tape and taped it to the side of the transmission tunnel out of the way but still easy to reach. No problems since. Unfortunately the small two sided piece of tape they provided for this purpose did not work on any surface I could find.

Buy the version for the manual transmission, even though our Genesis is an auto. Reason, both versions have three speeds - normal stock setting, intermediate and most aggressive. The auto version's speeds are much milder, its most agressive = the manual's intermediate.

I recently ordered and installed a manual version sprint booster on my 2012 5.0 Genesis R-Spec. Unfortunately I had to send the unit back in because it was not working properly and I was informed that they have had issues with the manual version when used on the auto V8. This doesn't make much sense to me since we have several forum members that have working manual units. I am pretty sure that I just got a bad unit. However, this is what I was told by the sprint booster guys so I am having them ship an auto unit in return.

This is encouraging as I'm looking to make the move from an M3 which has a 'sport' button that basically does the same thing. Has anyone else gotten the manual Sprint Booster to work on the R-Spec? Thanks!

IMO, the lazy transmission is the car's Achilles heel. This sounds like a good fix. I want one.
