  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I hope I made the right decision....

So after spending some time on this forum and doing a lot of research I decided to leave a deposit on a 2009 4.8 with tech package. It has 22k miles and in perfect condition. I am going to trade in my BMW 550 for this car due to the amount of miles I drive monthly.

Wish me lucky...I'm a little nervous about buying a Huundai.

I came from a bimmer myself, trust me the $$$ u save in maintainance says it all

Rest assured... altho you may need to resist smiling too much on the highway.

Congrats! Welcome to the club!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I didn't know they made a 4.8 ;) Seriously, I think you'll be happy. You might not have quite as much power as the 550, but it should be close. The mileage sure should be better.

And you won't have those $600 "scheduled maintenance" appointments...

This is my first Hyundai too. I went out for a Lexus/Benz/BMW and came back with the 2011 4.6. It was the right move for me and I think that you made the right decision.

Thanks for all the feedback I'm excited to pocket up next weekend.

Congrats on the Genesis, you will enjoy it. I also own a BMW, but consider them completely different ownership and driving experiences, I am happy with both.

Many hyundai dealerships have those 15k/30k/60k service packages that can reach and exceed that price. I was in for an oil change earlier in the year and heard two people get sold into one of those plans. Very sad.

I have a 09 Genesis V8 and a 11 535i. Both are great cars. The Genesis is every bit as good as the BMW, except for 2 key areas. BMW seats are potentially the best seats out of all the major brands and secondly the suspension and handling of the Genny reminds you that it's not meant to be a sports car when you try and drive it super aggressively.

The Genesis is going to be infinitely more spacious and comfortable than a 550i.

I just bought a used 2009 4.6 with only 30k miles. I was in a great Nissan Maxima. But I could not fit an infant seat in the middle next to my 5 year old's car seat. The bucket seats were too deep. The genesis back seat is huge, so I bought it.

Anyway, I had a BMW prior to the Nissan and I enjoy the genesis so much more. The only complaint I have is the crappy IPod interface. I'm hoping to eventually get the nav/software upgrade.

I think you will end up loving the car. Enjoy!

Good to hear and to be honest I have read a lot of people same the thing about owning a nice BMW or others alike and fall in love with the Genesis.
I hope it serves me well....
The more feedback I get from you guys the more excited I get.

I have a deposit on a 2009 with 20k miles with all the options available for 26k.
The car is perfect and looks brand new.

I have no doubt you'll love the car. I must admit that I find it difficult telling people how good this car actually is for I kind of want to keep it a secret...

People know already. It was a secret in 2008.

Stunamar, I would budget money for a quality 4 wheel alignment. For whatever reason, a lot of folks were complaining of misalignment from the factory.

I recently had an alignment and road-force wheel-balance done for about $180, and it made a huge difference in the car. Gone is that slight (but ever so-annoying) pull to the right that it pretty much had since I drove it off the lot.

Judging by the number of puzzled looks I still get when I'm driving, I still think it's relatively unknown.

Same here with the pulling to the right. Had to take it in to the dealer twice and finally got it almost right. I still feel a slight bit of pulling but its certainly nothing like it was from the factory.

Good to know i'll have a wheel alignment done if I feel it pull. I don't even think I'll dick around with th dealer and just take it to a quality shop to I have this done.

I live in Nj and bought the car in Mass. about 220 miles from home so it will be a nice little road trip.

I'm just curious; did you notice that on your R-Spec as well?
