  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2011 4.6. Is there a way to have intermittent wiper control without the automatic control feature? My beef is that the wiper are a bit hyper. When using intermittent, set to the lowest setting, they often speed up to the highest speed when driving around town in light to moderate rain. Much faster than I think is required for the situation. The system appears to be working properly but should I try decaffeinated gasoline?

I have experienced the same problem. I found by turning the Intermittant selector one way and then the other, it seems to reset the automatic wiping to a more reasonable level. It does not however always stay 'reset' after you switch the car off and restart.

Mine don't turn immediately. Even if I turn to regular speeds often it takes moving stalk to various setting and it takes up to a minute to turn on wipers at all.

Agreed. The guy who invented rain sensor wipers needs to be water tortured. Just one more over-teched invention to annoy and fail.

The rain sensor sensitivity adjustment is over-sensitive for sure. Even on the lowest setting if a spec of dew touches the window it tries to scrub it off like my wife does when a spider crawls on her...:D

I have had a look at the schematics for this and it appears that the rain sensor simply produces an analog signal to the car to indicate the degree of rain. I've wondered if I could insert a resistor in the circuit to attenuate the overall value of the rain sensor input to the computer.

I've also thought about seeing if placing an opaque or translucent sticker on the outside of the windshield in that are would reduce the sensitivity....but have not tried it..

Is there a way to turn off the automatic wipers? I think mine works because there were times where it was sunny and the wipers would turn on out of nowhere and swing very quickly about once or twice. But a few days ago it rained, and my wipers did not turn on at all. So I had to manually turn it on. So is there a way to turn off the automatic wipers or are my wipers not working and I may have to go to the dealership.

In addition to the automatic setting, there are off, low, and high positions. You should turn the wipers off completely when you shut off the car or when it's not raining. The auto setting (which I agree is too sensitive) is only meant to save you the effort of adjusting the speed manually to match the amount of rainfall.

When mine does this, I turn them off for a sec, then put them back in auto mode. It seems to take care of the hyper-wiper syndrome most of the time. On the rare occasions it doesn't, I put them in low and keep tolling.

This issue was fixed (modified?) in the 2012...I owned the 2010 and I thought the wipe rate for the auto wiper was just too fast. I also thought the auto driving lights was kind of "hinky". Both of these devices work better in my '12.

Mine work just fine.....they respond appropriately. Love the feature!

I will say that on my Audi I had a little more control over the sensitivity but im quite happy with how the rain sense wipers work on Genesis.
