5.0 non R-Spec fuel consumption, reviews?

Is anyone aware of real-world fuel economy reports for the new NON R-Spec 5.0L V8 trim level?

I found this list which puts it in-line with the 4.6 (17/26/20).

Also, if anyone is aware of a review of the new model that would also be appreciated. I was surprised that the Hyundai site had the 5.0 and 5.0 R-Spec at exactly the same numbers in terms of HP and torque - just the tires and stabilizer bars seem to differentiate them. Suspiciously, though, if you "compare by pictures", both vehicle pictures show the R-Spec badge...

Looks like the new 5.0 (non R-Spec) gets same gas mileage as the 4.6 (both 1 mpg better than R-Spec), but has the same increased HP as the 5.0 R-Spec. That would not surprise me since the GDI is more efficient, and I suspect that the difference is the transmission shift points between the R-Spec and 5.0 non R-Spec that accounts for the 1 mpg difference in fuel economy.

In addition to the stabilizer bars, I think there are also differences in the springs/shocks, and maybe amount of steering assist, among some other minor differences.

I wouldn't make too much of the observation about the photos. I assume those are EPA certified numbers.

• Dark chrome headlamp inserts
• Rear "R Spec" badge
• "R Spec" embroidered floormats
• Black/Charcoal-colored simulated woodgrain trim (vs. brown)
• No simulated wood trim on the steering wheel
• Available Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position summer performance tires option (who cares, just buy them yourself for way cheaper)
• No white!!! Only 3 exterior colors available: Black, Titanium & Platinum
• Only black interior available
• $1,000 less cash in the wallet​

The diameter of the 18" and 19" wheels (with tires mounted) is almost the same. My guess is that transmission shift points are different.

Correct. And the difference in consumption between the 5.0 and the R-Spec is in fact the more "aggressive" sport-tuned gearing.

The wheels add approximately 20 lbs to the rig.

Definitely the shift points are higher in every gear on the R-Spec vs. the 4.6 (and I assume the non-R-Spec 5.0). It shifts 150-200 rpm higher than my 2011 BMW 535xi with 8spd trans.

However, you can get excellent gas mileage in the R-Spec if driven conservatively. The photo attached shows the highway mpg I got on a trip to Wisconsin this weekend, with a mix of 65 mph and 55 mph speed limits. The photo shows the beginning of the trip, but near the end of the return trip where there was a little bit of slow, in-town driving, it still showed 28.4.
