  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I like that color, its hard to tell whether it's changing color or goes into black.

Beleive it or not, the whole paint scheme began as a screw up.

I started with a black base coat using House of Kolors black base.

The original concept was stripes done in the Kopper Penney pearl you see. Then a Red Pearl on the upper half and a Gray pearl on the lower half. This was all dry pearl flakes you mix into the clear before spraying.

Well the red looked too pink and the gray too silver. But the Kopper came out nice and had had a nice fade from the overspray. So we sanded it all down and redid it. Heavier layers on top and fewer on the bottom with some just a dusting of the Kopper. That's how we got teh fade and why some of the black looks a little brown, like on the front fender. It looks even better in the sun.

After all the color was sprayed, we put on a couple of thick coast of Dupont high gloss clear. I light color sand to smooth it out, a little cut and buff. then some wax. It's smoother than a babys butt and deep in the color. Looks wet after a good coat of wax.

1986 IROC Z28, all original, 305 TPI with the 700R4 and 4 wheel disc brakes. Black with gray interior.

2006 (or is it 2005) Silverado 4WD with 4.8 V8 and 5 speed manual transmission (this is the gas hog, 4.10 rear and aerodynamics of a brick.)

The 81 Z28 (350/4 Speed) is licensed/insured but I don't drive it, except in/out of the garage and up/down the road in front of my house now and then to get it hot and circulating the antifreeze a little.
