  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Okay, Last night we here in So Cal had our first big rain storm of the season.
So me, attempting my best drifting impersonation on a wet and empty piece of orange county's finest roadway, shut off the ESC. Making sure there is absolutely nobody around, I put my foot in it while taking a corner.
Now I know what everyone is talking about with the ESC not shutting completely off!!!
Next, I tried a burnout from a standing start.......
YIKES!!! Talk about intrusion! When the ESC kicked in, it made the rear suspension shutter and shake in a way that was not pleasant!

This leads me to some questions. I've owned some turbo cars in the past that could be reprogrammed to add boost, remap ignition and fuel curves, remove top speed governing, etc..
What I'm wondering is can the Engine Management System in the Genesis be reprogrammed to completely shut off the ESC?
Also, is anyone manufacturing a Cold Air Intake for the V6 yet?
I think this car would run great with a CAI and a reprogram.
I plan on upgrading my suspension and I believe the handling and fun factor of this car could be greatly improved with this combination of mods.
If there is anyone in the So CAl area that needs a test mule I would be willing to offer my car.
thanks

I'm still waiting to hear back from K&N on when they will have a free flow filter and a cold air intake system available. As soon as I hear back I'll post it!

Okay,
I just got off the phone with Eric at Rhys Millen Racing in Huntington Beach Ca.
He said they are waiting for Hyundai to provide them with a couple of sedan test units (we've all seen the coupe they did) so they can begin building and testing everything from Carbon fiber airboxes to engine management tuning and suspension and exhaust systems.
I offered him my car for testing, but he declined.
Everything for the sedan will be in a subdued style, like a gentleman's sport sedan he said. Think "M" or " AMG" was the idea. No over the top giant exhausts sytems or crazy open element CAI's, widebody kits, etc..
He said we can begin to look for some things to trickle out around the first quarter of 09.
He also said they will begin posting on the forum once they are ready to begin selling.

Great news! I can't wait. I've been in the tuning scene for a while now. The car I am selling now is a Mazdaspeed3. This car is fully bolted with a Cobb AP engine management. I am currently putting down 330WHP. I will miss her when she's gone but it is time to grow up for me.

I drove a stock version of that car and thought the torque steer was a bit much. I can't imagine 330 at the wheels.
Nice car though.

Lots of torque steer. But very fast. If I didn't need more room for the family I would keep the car. And now I work for Hyundai and the monthly payments are the same so it's a no brainer for me to switch.

HA!

I bet if you were to make a video of what you tried to do it would look like mine. Have you seen my videos in the video section yet?

Somehow, someway, we are going to figure out how to temporarily disable the ESC!!;)

PINGGOLF, I've seen your vids and they are awesome.

I was so shocked at how abrupt the ESC kicked in! Right when things were getting interesting.
Damn !?!
