Dirty leather?

I have about 4700 miles logged and just noticed something strange with the front seat cushions, especially the passenger side. First, the car hasn't been in the shop for anything and I hand wash it myself. I have cashmere leather and the front seat cushions appear to be showing darkened areas as if they're dirty. It's almost like there is a bit of a shine to those areas as leather would do after years of someone sliding into and out of the seats. It's even on the side of the cushion and that's not the seating area. I have a 2000 Volvo with leather and it doesn't show any of these signs on the seats.

Anyone out there noticed anything like this on yours?

If I recall, I remember someone else posting something related to this and it was due to either their belt or blue jeans.

I have a Cabernet with Cashmere interior with 6,500 miles on her and I am experiencing the same thing. I dont wear jeans, so I know its not from them. All i wear is dress khakis to work and shorts whn I'm not at work. I'm so afraid to use cleaner because I've had some horror stories. I'm totally against leather conditioner, because I think it makes the seats age faster..

My other BIGGEST pet peeve is that the driver seat leather (where your butt goes) is very loose looking and looks like its 10 years old already. Compare it to my passenger seat and that one is smooth with no ripples.. Does anyone else have that??? It drives me nuts when I show people the inside of my new car...

I just finished cleaning the seats with a very good leather cleaner and the cloth I used has blue all over it. I'd say the blue jean theory is probably correct. Also, we bought the car at the end of December and used the heated front seat feature fairly often. I wonder if that would make denim even more apt to fade onto the leather. At least I know it can be cleaned with no permanent stain and now I can watch for it.

Yes, just about everyone. Some people have taken it to an upholstery shop and had it tightened. Doesn't bother me, but probably less noticeable on my black leather compared to a lighter color.

If they do get it tightened does it end up getting loose again to the same issue? Or is the fix permanent?

Wonder if this issue is more prominant from larger/heavier people? Mine looks pretty good after 3.5 years still.

This discoloration happened with my Taupe leather Acura. Frustrating but a fact of life. The Genesis leather looked like it could loosen quickly even when it was new. Just the way that it's designed and stitched. Large swaths of leather will stretch. Leather stiched in rows across the seat and back typically will not.

Being retired, I wear mostly cotton shorts and sweatpants so, like cotton jeans, the color transfers easily to the lighter colored leather seats.

I had the leather on my driver's seat cushion tightened at around 3000 miles under warranty -- I now have over 27000 miles ant it still looks great.

Lexol works great, and it's cheap and sold everywhere and a bottle of leather cleaner and conditioner will last you for a long long time.

NOT! Heat index around 100 degrees, and July it's worse And I don't drive it in the winter

My 2009 Lincoln MKS had the light (almost white)"Bridge of Weir" leather interior and it constantly had the discoloration, especially on the lower bolsters where we slide in and out. Thought something was wrong, dealer took a rag and lexol and it came right off.

I have Lexol cleaner and conditioners and also Blue Magic. I used Blue Magic on the seats this time.
