  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everybody, my name is Armando. I live in Lehigh Acres, FL (near Ft. Myers). I recently purchased a pre-owned 2009 Genesis 4.6 with 49k miles in Ft. Lauderdale this past Saturday. No words can describe my feelings for this car other than I love driving it.

I have a question that maybe some of you could help me figure out. Today, after work, I noticed the front parking sensor flashing on my display. There was nothing in front of me since I park trunk first. I didn't think much of it until I noticed it would repeatedly flash when I came to a stop at a light, or stopped in general. I'm getting the car with the P on it and 3 flashing lines in front of it as if I'm parked to close to an object. Once I got home, I checked the front bumper to see if anything was blocking the sensors and found nothing. This issue was not happening this morning when I got to work. Should I be concerned?

BTW, I did try to search for this on the forum before posting. I appreciate your help.

Thank you. :)

Hi Armando, first off :welcome: to the Hyundai Genesis Owners forum...

Try taking a very soft bristled brush, something like a pain brush and wipe out the sensor circles on the bumper. Mine had wax in them that was throwing them off to think something was there, not sure if that's the issue with yours but it's worth trying...let us know :)

Thanks for the welcome. I tried what you suggested and still the same. Is there a way to reset it?

Thanks.

Welcome from a fellow West-FL Genny driver! :welcome:

The Genesis is a great FL drivers car -- great on open smooth roads. Recommend you tint the windows

re: bad front parking sensors
Could be wet (storm), could be dirt, could be wax, could be damaged. Odd that it would be all 3 at the same time unless someone did something dumb like paint the bumper without masking them off. It's possibly covered under warranty, something your local dealer can fix.

Welcome, another Florida Genesis owner joins the form. :welcome:

I’m sure that your problem will be solved by the members of this form.:grouphug:

I am sure you will enjoy your Genesis a much as the rest of us.

How about giving us some details about your new ride. What color is it, has there been any mods done to it?

I had the same problem on two occasions about six months ago. After a few days, it stopped happening on its own, and has not happened since. ?? :)

Had similar problem and found remnants of dead insect on sensor.

Welcome aboard, Armando! And thank you for signing up...

Thank you all for the welcome!

Im still having the issue today, the car is kept in the garage, so I figured the sensors would dry out. Didnt work. It didnt help that I had a monsoon of a rain storm heading to work this morning, so Im going to give it some time before I take it to the dealer.

As for the car, its the 4.6 in Satin White, no mods done to it. Quite frankly, this car has enough balls to move for me. Besides, if I want speed, Ill just take the STi for a drive. The Genesis is perfect the way it is.

I did find it odd that there is no SRAI or CAI available for this car, however magnaflow has anexhaust for it. Just a drop in K&N filter, which I ordered today.

Thanks again!

Well, I took it to the local dealer here to see what it could be. Turns out the two front right sensors are malfunctioning due to what they think was a small front end collision, something I insisted it was impossible. The carfax report on this car did not state anything about a front end crash. They are going to go ahead and cover it under warranty, so that is good.

Hopefully the rain will subside by tomorrow. If its over, then I'll get the car washed and will take some pictures.

:D

Where did you get the idea that Carfax has a record of every single accident? Aside from the fact that not even all "reported" accidents are in Carfax, some damage is repaired by the owner without reporting it because there may not have been another vehicle involved, or the owner may have decided to have it repaired without notifying the insurance company (for a variety of reasons).

Here is a direct quote from the Carfax website:
"Not every accident or damage event is reported and not all reported are provided to CARFAX."

Well... from carfax advertising? Isnt that what carfax has been burning into our brains with their commercials? "Show me the carfax!". Guess they took me for a sucka huh? Forgive me for being too ignorant on the issue. Thank you for the education.

The fine print details where probably shown in the commercial, assuming you had a magnifying glass and could pause your TV screen.

Welcome aboard!

I hit a deer with my previous car - $6,500 of damage... never showed up on carfax. That's why I buy new cars, and hold onto them for 10 years. No surprises that way :)

FYI... I've been to Lehigh! Very nice community - golf courses, etc.

in 1 yr of ownership, i've had the front sensor beeping a few times when there was nothing in front. it happens so rarely it doesn't bother me.
how often does it happen to you?

i glad you're enjoying your ride.
to this day, i am amazed by how smooth the powertrain is, and how quiet the cabin is.
the only car that i liked better was a 2011 MB E550 which i test drove prior to buying the Genny. that car had a slightly stronger V8, and handled road bumps a bit better than the Genny, but it was also $25k more.

Oh, for sure! I love driving this car. I had an 06 sonata before the Genesis and its a world of difference. Very elegant too. :D
