  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Open Letter to Genesis Motors - How I'd Improve the GV80

Additionally:
Raise and Lower all windows from key FOB.
Enable a camera function from the rear view mirror
Auto lock car after exiting
Enable "Driver Score"
More control over chair massage function

I agree with service/dealership issue. The combo dealer closest to me said it was at least a month to look at my non working AC. Drove another hour to a stand alone dealer and it was fixed in a week. The attitude and response from the service advisors and techs at the stand alone dealer was far superior to the combo dealer. The combo dealer seemed to be bragging that they had 30 cars scheduled for repair every day!! I also called a non Genesis Hyundai dealer and they said they would look it since I was out of warranty but couldn't order parts for Genesis vehicles at all! Such a fragmented dealer experience I would think twice about buying another Genesis.

Some minor stuff, but as long as you are asking:

•Seat heater display indicators TOO dim
•Parking sensors go off in stopped traffic (especially around Ford vehicles)
•More then one true trip odometer
•Garage door openers don’t work if car is powered down (yes, I know some here like that. I'd like a preferences option.)
•Show transmission gear in heads-up display
•Prefs option to show song info in heads-up display
•Higher quality OEM wiper blades, which wear out prematurely
•Phone charger practically useless
•Wireless Car Play
•Second button to control rear window power sunshades
•Visual AWD monitor
•Is gas cap necessary
•Headlights should turn with steering wheel
•No spare tire (for an $85K vehicle?? not even a donut??)
•Separate HVAC System for rear seat
•Battery failure an issue
•Seat massage for driver AND passenger seats

And, of course, that freakin' button that makes the engine NOT shut off at idle.
TIL we have no spare? How did i not realize this???

Genesis Motors executives have been watching this community for years. They've also made improvements to their vehicles based upon what they've read here. They are listening to you.

This discussion will serve as a quick and easy way for Genesis Motors executives to gauge interest and help make decisions moving forward.

As a GV80 driver, you should state exactly what you'd like to see enhanced, added, and/or omitted from your Genesis GV80.

Any posts that don't stick to the subject matter will be moved elsewhere.

1. Acceleration from complete stop has that initial lag...what's up with that? Please fix it.
2. The cordless charging is abysmal.
3. Remove that cubby under the center console. It's nearly impossible to reach and serves no useful purpose.
4. The driver confirmation screen that only seems to take forever when i need to get moving needs to get figured out. Figure that out and come up with a way to cover your butts AND deliver a consistently good customer experience.
5. Fans are very loud.
6. Sound deadening Glass in the rear and more comfortable rear seats.
7. Bring the scented interior option from the G90 into the GV80
8. Full Self Driving Option
9. How about some better mileage?
10. Cornering headlights that move with the wheel direction

I agree with most of those recommedations except the self driving option. Still can't fathom that yet.
Additionally, I am very disappointed in the leg room in the second row. I have the 2021 GV80 Prestige and it is terrible re leg space. I am a previous Palisade Limited owner and that was not a problem.
The radio dial on screen is a waste of space. Does anyone even use that? I too would like the compass shown in all radio modes so passengers could easily see direction.
The ride could be better for such a quality car. My 2019 RAM truck was a smoother ride.
I bought my car earlier this year. Overall, the car is very good but I am disappointed and may not keep it.

I guess you didn't bother with a test drive or even getting into one in a showroom. The complaint about 2nd row leg room is a surprise and not an observation I've ever seen a comment about.

A little curious about the statement attached to this forum. I know cars supposedly improve year over year, but these comments, going back to at least 2021 seem to still exist on the 2025 GV80. If Genesis executives are actually gauging interest, then please read below. Some of these issues are big and annoying enough that my next vehicle won't be this.

I'll start off with that there is a lot to like about the car. Satisfied with the power of the 2.5. Sound system is good. Car looks great. I do like that I can open, start and lock the car with just my phone or watch. Once a profile is selected, a decent amount of settings are applied. But the technology is only half of what it could or should be.

With all the technology built into this car, how hard is it to attach a user profile to a "Smart Key" fob OR to a Digital Key? How is a big person supposed to get into the car after a small person leaves the seat all the way up. Sure, it seems to moves back a bit for them to get out, but in order to switch profiles, you have to turn the car on and then the seat starts moving up and forward until you can change the profile for the bigger person. After several years of requesting this, that capability is still not available in a car of this caliber! How about an over the air or downloadable update to add that capability?
How about adding the ability to send the profile to the car through the app or through the Alexa app? Surely, if I can send a command to lock, unlock, start, and move the car remotely, there should be a way to send a command to change the user profile to a locked vehicle. Is anyone at Genesis really reading this forum??

Of course I won't mention that your electronically controlled passenger seats do not have memory function. Since the seat is adjustable through the entertainment system, the ability should be there to save a passenger seat setting to a user profile. For example: If Mr. Long Leg profile 1 is driving, short leg passenger seat could move up, and visa versa. If we switch drivers to Ms Short Leg profile 2, then passenger seat should move back to whatever setting is attached to the driver profile, better yet, install buttons on the passenger door for 1 and 2 (which won't fix my issues in this car).

Am I correct that the garage door buttons are disabled once the car is powered down? The entertainment system stays powered up until the door is opened. Why not the garage door buttons?

No option to have the doors automatically lock when the key fob or digital key walks away from the car? What is the point of having all this technology if we still have to pull out the key fob and look at the sides to find the right button to press to lock the doors, or grab the handle to lock it. Poor execution in the design of the key fob. It is still very big, big enough to but all the buttons on top. I should be able to see what the buttons are without putting on reading glasses.

I have not driven this new car all that much yet, but I made a note that the fan speed does not automatically go fast or slow down with the thermostat call for heat or air. Shouldn't the fan modulate as the vehicle temperature approaches the thermostat temp?

It seems that Tesla has to ability to change all kinds of things through their OTA updates. I do not know how programmable this car is, but if something is accessible through the entertainment system, I would imagine they could be changed with an update as well. You did, for example, add wireless CarPlay to the car through an update.

I will finally have the chance to take the car on a road trip and see what other shortcoming I discover. Not sure if I can edit this after, but if I can. I'll add my impressions here.

Thanks for reading,.

I'm pretty sure this has already been mentioned, so count this as another vote for it:

1) Auto lock all doors after an adjustable delay (say 10-30 sec) when the doors are all closed with the fob is NOT inside the car. Our old '13 SRX had that feature and I miss it already. I have to believe with all this functionality built into the HW & SW on these cars, this should / could be included in an OTA update.

FYI, our '25 will unlock the rear doors when grabbing them first (just tried it today). I saw this mentioned previously, so maybe this was an update for the '25s?

Auto Lock is good as long as it is optional. It would annoy me greatly.

For the 2025 GV80 coupe, the rear doors will indeed unlock by grabbing the IF you have the for. They will not unlock with just the digital key. Give that a try.

The front doors, of course, do unlock with just the digital key.

Absolutely. Its all software code at this point, all the other features can be enabled / disabled, no need to make this one any different.

I'm still getting used to not racing around the car to get into the driver's door after closing my wife's door to beat that 10 sec timeout that the SRX was set for. :ROFLMAO: But unfortunately that old habit of relying on the car to lock itself has resulted in me forgetting to lock the GV80 when walking away.

I didn't realize that the digital key / fob was the distinction on the behavior of the rear doors. Thanks for the info.

The app can be set to remind you when your car has been left unlocked. If it was unintentional you can lock it right then through the app.

All models with 22 inch wheels should come with run flat tires

Stop putting 22” wheels on these Prestige models lol.

I like the 22s on my GV80.

I love the style of my 22” on my Signature, the ride not so much.IMG_7067.webp

That's the thing... The manufacturers seem to be giving most o the design attention to the large wheels - leaving the smaller wheels with what many consider lesser designs. Personally, I like smaller wheels for the softer ride - but the best looking wheels are almost always the larger ones... I really think this is a mistake as you typically can't get the nicest wheels without having to sacrifice ride quality...

On this I agree as when I was looking into aftermarket, it wasn’t as appealing. So with that being the case, it seems those Signature wheels will be on for as long as they are in one piece.
