  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My car has odd twist when braking, front goes left rear goes right. Worse when it’s a hard brake, down right scared shitless on wet pavement. On wet the front passenger side locks up. I’ve been under the impression that it’s caliper related but the Hyundai parts guys says different. He say in 17 years he’s sold Very few calipers but lots of Hydraulic brake pumps (let’s just call it that) for them. It’s located almost in plain sight, drivers side under the hood. He said a dealer has to report the issue to Hyundai so they can authorize a replacement and most all times at no charge. Mine will go in soon for this. Anyone experiencing this issue?

Start with brake fluid exchange & check calipers after its hot. honestly sounds sounds like possibly a master cylinder issue. Dealer says abs pump? possibly.. but I feel like the abs would be engaging or have an active abs light on in that case.

If the caliper has been bled properly, brake lines and fittings are intact, and there are no fluid leaks, then I would suspect the HECU (aka ABS unit).

When the HECU failed in my '12, the car exhibited the same behavior: I lost braking for one of the front wheels and the car would yaw pretty hard when braking. The solution is to replace the HECU. Mine was replaced at no charge under HPP extended warranty in 2017 (approx $2500 then). I have not heard reports of this kind of failure in a 2014 car.

Thank you really appreciate it. I’d headed to Hyundai dealer very soon
