  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

“The US is the largest oil producer in the world, surpassing Russia's 9.5 million barrel a day production rate, and well ahead of Saudi Arabia's ….”

Nice. I wonder how it will affect our grandkids.

Didn't people say the same thing 40-50+ years ago? Yet we are way better off than we ever were back in the smog and exhaust spewing 50's,60's,70's etc.

Yes, we are in that respect. Pollution levels much better. Oil though, is a finite material. The Saudi's have been building other sources to keep their economy going as they know it will run out.

Seems to me, we should be bragging about how we are conserving, rather than how fast we can pump it and use it up.

It’s always good to have key natural resources available at home, rather than to do handstands to beg them from others.

Some folks forget about this time in history.

I remember that when gas hit 50 cents a gallon. . But for the reasons you mention, it is good to make those last as long as possible and let others dry up first. Seems we should brag how efficient rather than how fast we suck it up. Would you brag about how fast you wore out the tires on your car?

Remember the $5 gas a couple of years ago? What will it be in 20 or 30 years as the wells go dry?

We can surely be proud that we are less dependent on the bad actors of the world. I get my pension check from one of the free world’s largest natural gas and electric suppliers. Yes, it does give me pride to turn on my furnace and AC and to be able to pay the bills for it.

Right, it is also important that the supplies be there.

I'm retired and have a 401K. I take monthly and live comfortably. Should we have a race to see who can deplete our retirement funds the fastest? Like oil, it is a finite material, so best to be sensible with it.

I’m sensible. Like peanut butter better than beef. Don’t flush every #1. Turn out lights when leaving room. Take 2 minute showers. 🤣
