  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've been reading disagreements on 2015 5.0 performance on various threads so I thought I'd start a dedicated one :)

Feel free to include 3.8 numbers too.

The general consensus seems to be around 5.2 for the V8 and mid to high sixes for the V6.

Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph comes in 5.2 seconds, up from that last-gen Genesis' 4.8-second time

Hyundai did not give any 0-60 figures except to say that they are “much faster than the old model,” which doesn't seem possible considering it has the same engine and transmission while the curb weight is “a little heavier.” We'll have to wait to get one on a drag strip. The previous Genesis got in the upper fives in 3.8-liter trim and in the lower fives with the 5.0.

Pretty skeptical of this one.

The times for a 5.0 AWD 0-60 in different modes by Autobytel.

The results are....strange and unexpected to say the least.

Autobytel's times look consistent with C&D's Rolling Start 5-60 at 5.6 sec. It does not look like Autobytel is doing anything special other than hitting WOT from a standstill. C&D, Autoweek, R&T, Motortrend, etc. experiment with all kinds of tricks for a 0-60 launch. Typically, they will end up revving the engine while holding the brakes for a much more aggressive launch than what those videos did. Though, those times are more like what we would experience in our personal cars.

Also, I think most of the u.s. magazines have a little bit of rollout in their times.

Thanks for clearing that up! It blew my mind watching the video. Now I can rest in peace.
