  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Interesting issue that popped up recently on my 09 4.6 with just over 215K miles.

On both sides, the parking brake lining cleanly popped off the metal shoes and lodged in the disk/hub. It happened first on he LH side then the RH about 50 miles later and each time they wedged themselves when I came to a stop. I was able to get them to free up so I could drive home by backing up a few feet.

They were the original bake shoes as far as I could tell (I have service records from new and they were OE Hyundai parts) but the RH shoes were an interesting gold color as though they had been extremely overheated. The LH side shoes looked fine( aside from the linings having popped off) so I'm not sure if this was an effect of time and mileage or if they were improperly adjusted from the factory. The disks were fine with no signs of excessive wear or overheating.

Has anyone else run into this issue?
