If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My Hyundai dealer just called to tell me I was entitled to a $1,500 rebate as a (former) Toyota Avalon customer.

He's re-writing the sales papers to reflect that.

Such a deal!

:)

who is that wonderful dealer?

http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/images/smilies/smile.gifGlad to give the dealer a free plug (if doing so is consistent with the Forum Rules).

My salesman was Fred Perlmutter (a really professional guy who knew his product, and the competition very well).

The dealer was Delray Accura/Honda, in Delray Beach, FL.

You can call him at 561-282-7904

Feel free to mention my name, Dave, (from Boca Raton) - the guy he sold a 2010 to this month with Option package 3 (GPS, etc.) - Black exterior with saddle leather (dark brown) interior.

Seriously, he's a good guy, as was the sales Manager, Tom (I forgot his last name). I was not an easy sale, and drove a hard but fair bargain, beating the "Internet" price and the "Costco" price by more than $500.

Thanks for the info. I live in Connecticut but spend the winter in your area. My 27 month lease ends 2/11 so I will have to get my next Genesis in Florida. I'll give Fred za call at that time.

Nice deal! The dealer is smart to target Avalon owners. As a former Avalon owner myself, I think that if they can get Avalon owners to drive the Genesis they won't need rebates.

This is something I've never understood. A sale is a sale regardless of what kind of car you currently have. If there is a $1500 deal out there that you can't have just because you don't own the right kind of car, or don't live on the right street, they are asking everyone else to over pay for the car.

Doesn't sit well with me if that's a real deal.

That would have been nice for me 6 months ago .... I turned in an 06 Avalon

It sounds like it is dealer offer, not a Hyundai offering. Maybe they fudge a little on the trade-in value compared to what they would have normally given credit for on an Avalon.

Guys, this was a Hyundai's manufacturer's rebate, not a dealer price cut.

I had already signed a contract for the car, including my trade in.

A few days later the dealer called me to say he was going to make my day, and that the Manufacturer had just announced an Avalon Owners credit of $1500, retroactive to 11/1.

Lucky me.

These programs are not uncommon. Last time I was in the market, Acura (or was it GM?) had a "conquest" program aimed at a specific competitive brand. To me, what's uncommon here is the dealer honoring it for you after the sale was made.

BocaDave has started two threads on this subject.

Here is my response on the "other" thread he started:

Here is the offer on their website (includes any competitive model):

"That's right,.....now on 2009 & 2010 Genesis Sedans, for a limited time ony, recieve $1,500,00 in additional savings if you are a current Hyundai Owner or an owner of a competitive model, and you don't have to trade. Drive away in style while taking advantage of this once a year event!
Coupon not valid with any other offer. Must present coupon at time of purchase. Limit one coupon per person. Coupon does not apply to prior purchases. Other Restrictions may apply. Void where prohibited.Offer expires: 11/30/2009"
http://www.delrayhyundai.com/specials/new.htm

Doesn't look like a Hyundai offer to me and does not appear on the Hyundai website. It "could be" a Hyundai incentive offered to dealers, who can use it to offer lower prices however they see fit, but doesn't sound like a direct rebate to the customer from Hyundai.
