  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is this a planned engine check when the odd hits 100K....quite a coincidence if not.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
No not anything to to with 100k. Get the dealer to scan and find the problem. I have 182k on mine and just recently got the check engine light and the fuel gauge in the gas tank was malfunctioning and it also needed a new fuel filter.

Had a 2012 that check engine light came on three times in 51,000 miles. Went directly to a dealer first time and no codes recorded. Was advised that it's not a critical scenario unless it's flashing. All instances, after restarting 5-6 times, the light went off. All three while driving thru South Carolina. Must have been something in the air.:)

You might have gotten some bad gas.

3 restarts will clear a one-time fault code.

Buy an OBDII reader off ebay for $13. Any time you get a CEL, use Torque or similar app to pull the codes.

Verdict. three components replaced with the code. no details yet. $507.00

Thanks Hyundai:confused:

You have a car with 100k miles on it and you had to spend just $500 to keep it running? I don't understand what you're complaining about. I had to pay out significantly more to keep a 2007 BMW 530i running at under 65k miles.

I have to agree with the previous poster. My 2000 Toyota Avalon didn't cost me anything but normal maintenance up to 92,000 then I had to spend about $2,000 for the "100,000 mile service". That's about 2 cents per mile. Seems pretty reasonable to me.

I agree that the cost of maintaining a worthy car is low thus far after the 100K warranty is up however thats only part of the equation. The Genesis is my wife's car and we are newly married and still getting to know one another. As such she rates her comfort scale at a 5 driving the car without a warranty (0 being not comfortable at all and 10; well you get the point.

She is considering the newer Genesis (Dealer has a few 2015 left) and the Sonata Hybrid Limited which while a step down has been reconfigured with simply outstanding mileage

. I point out that monthly payment vs. occasional repair is what she "ought to" be thinking about. Her Genesis has had one major repair (ABS switch >2K) covered under warranty. It's a solid, safe, comfortable ride and the Lexicon stereo is the best I've ever heard).

Her response is that she simply does not want the worry of repair or WORSE being stuck on the roadside, which I guess is every woman' fear especially in states where owning a weapon and carrying it in one's car is illegal. (Alaska vs. California)

I made an app't with the local Hyundai dealer where she purchased the 09 Genesis and will let her decide if she wants to go.

The Sonata is a very good car as well but not in the luxury class of a Genny. If she is comfortable with the Sonny you really can't go wrong.

I've been married since 1966 to several wives and have learned they don't think quite as rationally as husbands do. If she is happy then you will be happy. Go with what makes her comfy.

And, congratulations on the new marriage. :)
