  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

im a spoon honda guy so hyundais aren't my thing. the Genesis Coupe is my wife's car. she got it in late 2012 and now has 82k on it. alternator went out few months ago and replaced it. now the condenser and ac compressor went bad and the ac is just blowing hot air. is it normal on the Genesis Coupe that these parts need to be replaced this fast? car only as 82k on it and 6 years old.

my rsx which i track is an 03 and still has original alternator, etc. it only has 101k miles on it but for being 16 years old they are still doing fine.

Anecdotes don't make statistics, but in over 55 years of driving I've had many cars with less miles and bigger problems. Climate, driving conditions, as well as original quality make a difference. I don't see that as unusual in the scheme of auto life.

I also question that both the compressor and condenser failed at the same time, but again, it can happen. Sometimes it is the shop. I know a guy that was taking his car for repair because it needed an alternator and voltage regulator. He asked my brother for a ride to drop it off. Questioning that they both went bad my brother said he wanted to check it himself. He tightened the belt and all was good.

Anything mechanical or electrical will eventually wear out or break. Big question is when.
