  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was merging onto the highway. And punched it. The car hesitated for a second then took off like a bat out of hell. All the way to Redline. Then all of a sudden it just would not shift. I had to let off the throttle before it would shift.
It over revved the car. And again would not shift until I let off the throttle.
Car was in automatic mode with esc on.
This has happened a few times now. Anybody else experienced this?
Sorry if there is already a thread on this. I on my phone in Costa Rica. So the search function doesn't work. This happened again the day I left home.

Has happened on the 1-2 shift. A 2-3 shift and once on a 4-5 shift.

Yes exactly. I at least feel a little better that it's not just me. Might just be in the character of the car and not an actual mechanical issue.

Anybody else?

Never happened on my 2014.

Every time I've romped on my 4.6 the transmission upshifted near redline. I've yet to see it hold but I've only had the car for a few months.

Yeah I've owned mine since November of 2013. And it's only happened maybe 4-5 times. So it's not very frequent. But it's been on my mind

Does it "over-rev" or "hold the rev"?

It shouldn't do that. It should shift. This is not a calibration issue but more likely something wrong.

My brand new 2014 just did it from the first to second shift. I also saw 7200 and backed out of the throttle and it shifted

Had to reschedule my car at the stealership. It's now throwing itself out of gear when I floor the throttle at a rolling start. I have to let the revs come back down to under 2500 before it will grab a gear again

They suspect they may need to reflash the tranny programming as its not slipping or shifting hard.

I don't see that being tranny programming. When mine started to take way too long to grab the next gear, with an accompanying jump in rpms during the shift, I wound up getting a new transmission, under warranty.

If that's the case then that's the case. But I will let them do their typical run through every possibility before actually dealing with the problem.
