Hi all,
Made the drive up to Vermont from Virginia and back this weekend and it was my first drive much beyond the neighborhood since picking up my used 2016 3.8 ultimate. Thoughts in no particular order.

- So quiet. That is the number one reason I was attracted to the Genesis. I have both the moon roof rattle and the ticking-noise-at-30mph from wherever but neither bothers me. The roof only creaks over big bumps and the ticking noise goes away after things warm up. As someone said, turn up the sound system.
- The sound system! I am new to the semi-luxury car thing, and I am enjoying the high end stuff like this sound system. So nice.
- The ride is wonderfully smooth. Except over 85. I expect I need a little tire balancing.
- All wheel drive was very stable on the little snow and packed ice we encountered. A total non-issue.
- I LOVE the adaptive cruise control. It makes highway driving much more relaxing and makes the traffic you experience around urban beltways, etc. much easier to handle.
- Seating is soooo nice. Getting fidgity? Just adjust things a bit. Butt getting sore? Turn on the air for a few minutes and things cool right down. And heated seating is huge on cold Vermont mornings.
- Need to pass? Plenty of get up and go.
- The blind spot detection thing is great. But the beeping makes everyone in the car jump just a bit when I put on a turn signal to let other drivers know I want to merge. I'd turn it off but it is really helpful when there is actually someone in a blind spot.
- Gas Mileage averaged 26.5 for the highway portions including some stop and go. I was surprised that it was a bit lower while in Vermont with their rolling hills and 50 MPH state limit. My Prius ate that stuff up but this car does better at 75mph.
- Entertainment system has quirks but I have about figured them all out. I kept pressing the wrong buttons but that's a me problem. It is pretty intuitive, I'm just not that bright.
- Same with the navagation system. I will learn it's quirks eventually but it's not good to try learning while in battle. Read your manuals.
- The "check tire pressure sensor" light and warning triangle came on after hitting a minor pothole at speed and stayed on for many miles. I finally got to a stop and checked the tires. All was well and after getting back on the road it turned off after a few minutes. No idea what that was about but it caused me undue stress. Too much info isn't always a good thing.
- Despite the great backup camera, I still have trouble parallel parking this boat. I am used to much smaller cars. I wish it had auto parking like so many other midpriced cars do. Practice practice.
- I only saw one other Genesis on the road, on the Garden State Parkway. It was purty. But I did see four Stingers. Not quite as purty but still brothers in happy motoring.
- The head's up display is a Godsend. I think it should be required on every car. So much helpful info and my farsighted eyes can see it all without searching a busy dash display.
- The heated steering wheel is another must have.
- My daughter said the heated back seat is the bomb. Then she curled up and slept for six hours.
- Lastly, I had to scrub all the road crud off when I got home. That is when I realized just how big this car is. It took forever!
