Due to the lack of info on the distinction between the 14 and 17 speaker Lexicon audio in the 2015 Genesis sedan I did a lot of forum crawling over the last few weeks and came to the conclusion that it might be worth rolling the dice to transplant the front dash center driver assembly from the 17 speaker version (tweeter + midrange) to my lesser 14 speaker version (midrange only) since the Lexicon amps appear to be identical with the lesser version basically just doing Logic 7 processing on 2 channel sources and missing 3 speakers (center front tweeter + rear door midranges). Regardless of the less fancy processing options it seemed like having that extra tweeter to anchor the front soundstage might not be a bad idea. Scrolling through eBay I found a junkyard source that had one of the 17 speaker front dash center tweeter + midrange driver assembly for sale for about $40. The electrical connectors looked identical and wiring all appeared contained to the speaker assembly itself so maybe it was plug and pray. I rolled the dice and gambled that I wasn't flushing $40 down the latrine.
Short version - noticeable improvement in the front stage by just adding the center tweet to the mix so center is now tweet + midrange instead of just the midrange driver. I'm on the fence that adding the two midranges to the rear door would do much for my ears but tweeters are kind of a big deal and adding the extra one to the center stack compared to the 14 speaker version center dash midrange only approach seemed like it would be a good bang for buck addition.
Totally worth it to my ears and now I have a unicorn 15 speaker Lexicon Frankenstein audio system in my new to me mirth mobile.
