  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was curious if you ever changed the transmission fluid, coolant, and rear differential fluid? Thanks for sharing your obviously successful maintenance plan.

Yes to all of the above. Diff changed at 100k, tranny service every 60k now, coolant changed last year. I basically follow the Hyundai maintenance schedule.

Hit150K several months ago in my 2010 4.6 w/Tech, and have generally loved the car, but there have been a few painful quirks:
1) Steering pump and gears had to be replaced after about a year, as the steering would occasionally get stiff for a moment while driving, fearful of a full loss of power steering. Dealer struggled to figure out the problem, took months to resolve.
2) Odd matter of all accessories and power steering would lose power when backing into parking spaces (steering would effectively lock, backup camera and radio would die, engine kept running, power returned to steering and accessories after a half second). Dealer struggled to figure this out for nearly a year, then when working on something unrelated, they discovered that the battery cable was not installed to the after market battery (slightly physically smaller than OEM) with an adapter, which caused the cable to be slightly loose. Installing the battery adapter finally fixed the backup problem, weird.
3) There has been an annoying fluttering sound coming from the front right area of the car at speeds between 28-32 mph when the car is cold (first start of the day, never really gets too cold in Austin). It sounds to me like a piece of body work or an air dam gets into harmonic vibration, but the dealer says they can't replicate the sound. I just checked on the forum and found that many others have this same issue.
4) Just recently, after a mechanic replaced an emissions valve related to a CEL, the car has problems starting after refueling. The mechanic (quit going to the dealer as soon as the extended warranty was up) has tried several things, to no avail, but I also just saw on the forum that many others have noted this problem, and it is likely the purge valve. I have passed this info to the mechanic and they need to give me some financial support, since they did stuff that was not needed, and I had to solve it myself!

Quirks aside, I still love my Genesis, and much of it's technology is still ahead of my wife's new Mercedes.

Great thread. Ive been hearing these motors last forever in some cases. I as well like to get full use of my cars.

Over 210,000 miles since we purchased our 2011 4.6 with tech. Still no oil use and transmission is still shifting like new. The alternator died last week. In checking over the car the other day it appears that it may need to have a new rear differential due to it developing a lot of play/lash when going into drive or reverse, no noise in rear though.

Hey guys my 2010 Genesis Sedan is sitting at about 112k miles on it... was wondering when / if things start to go wrong the car just had a misfire today... shop clears it said it should be fine but I recently about 6-7 weeks ago had a coil go out, and replaced it. Curious is anyone else has encountered problems at about this mile range? I got the car with 89k miles on it, and I have put a lot of miles on it in the 11 months i've owned it. But I keep up the oil changes and maintain it, always let it warm up before driving.. The car was shaking today for my girlfriend when it happened, and the light was on, thank the LORD it wasn't blinking like when I drove it on a misfire and bad coil.
