'19-'21 MY USDM Software Updates

Is there anyone who has faithfully done the software updates on the pre-refresh G70? Are response times just as snappy as before? Slower? Faster? etc...

Yes, overall there have been steady improvements. The response times are great. I don't notice any delays. The look of the interface is far better then the original, that's for sure. Once updated, I remove the SD card and only use Android Auto. With the SD card removed, the system boots faster.

The only thing that gets disabled when SD is pulled is Nav right?

Ok, awesome! That's exactly the reply I was looking for lol. I'm very much into in car tech but I'm balancing the need to have the newest stuff with my lust for that 3.3T V6. Seems like some of the used '19 and 20's are hovering around 30k which isn't bad at all. What MY do you have btw?

A couple of things I've noticed on the last update. The 'coasting' function has been disabled and no longer works. My guess is they saw issues with transmission longevity. Also the graphics that display when you change driving modes have turned into a ridiculous looking generic car.

I was on the highway yesterday in my 2019 G70 and latest update from November 22. I coasted yesterday and saw the "coasting" message appear between the dials in front of me. I rarely meet the parameters for coasting and it caught my attention.

Interesting as mine worked before one of those updates, and I haven't seen it coast in a long time. The way I drive, it should be engaging constantly.
I found this post below from another thread 3 yrs ago. Now I'm really confused as to why it stopped working.

Just came back from Genesis and here is some additional information:
- The feature was neutered as it would drastically reduce the life of the transmission and somewhere around the 6 year mark, the transmission would need to be rebuilt at a cost of approximately 14K CAD.
- Instead of the 7 conditions for activation in the first version of the software, there are now approximately 30 conditions (most of which are not visible to the driver, and not disclosed in the manual) that need to be met to trigger this feature. Essentially, there is no way to reliably trigger it by the actions of the driver (very convenient way for Genesis to maintain that it's working as intended!)
- They said if enough people complain, there will be pressure on the software manufacturer to release an update to allow the feature to trigger more often; however, the likelihood of people complaining is very low as people purchasing the car now have never experienced the eco-coasting feature as it used to be, and for many people they never bothered to turn it on in the first place when they purchased the car.
- Owners retain the option to downgrade the software on the ECU but this means foregoing all future updates and possible warranty issues upon transmission damage

Yeah that does look sorta crappy with it being changed to a generic coupe lol. Hopefully they fix it. I've honestly never seen a manufacturer give as many updates to car infotainment especially stuff that is beyond bug fixes etc... My 2017 Lexus never had one update. My 2021 Acura has only ever had one and didn't add a single new feature. Seems like Hyundai/Kia/Genesis (which is obviously all the same thing with a different skin) puts a lot into customer feedback such as the removal of the nixie tube radio visualization for something that displayed a lot more information about the stations etc...

Glad you posted. My coast setting hasn't worked over year. Service guy had no clue what feature was supposed to do. I've looked everywhere for solution. Was wondering if it would cause problems disengaging transmission so often

I've done all updates when released, and thought everything was okay with the last one, but today, noticed several things on the dash showing in freaking Korean, rather than English. Checked the language, and it was English. Toggled it to Korean, then back to English, hoping it doesn't happen again; we'll see. I updated the software with the latest version at least 2 months ago, and just noticed that change today. I really doubt I missed it before, with those symbols jumping at you, but it's always possible, I guess. Wonder if it has happened to anybody else. Hopefully '23s will be included in the next update; I had to use '22 since I bought my '23 almost 8 months ago.

Considering the generic car pictures used for drive modes, they must have forgot all about regression testing or even confirming this release was for the right market. I'm certainly not going to upgrade to this latest version.

As I wrote, I rarely see the Coasting message and it caught my attention on the flat highway drive as I released pressure on the accelerator. I was in Eco and whatever the parameters were the vehicle sensed them. I never saw the message the rest of the drive of four hours.
