If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I'm selling my stock 17's and keeping my aftermarket 18's for winter only driving. I found a great deal on some Kosei 19x8.5's on TireRack and pulled the trigger. Rubber will be stock R-Spec tire size: 235/45R19. I'll snap some pictures next time it's not raining out.

I was wondering what you guys think about the sedan's appearance with 19's running on stock springs - i.e. without coil overs or lowering springs? Does it look funny or too tall?

I know the R-Spec comes stock with the same set up I know have, but I can't decide if mine looks funny - probably because I'm coming with from 18's with the same sidewall height as these 19's. This obviously made the car run an inch lower than now. Maybe I'll get used to it, but right now that inch sticks out to me.

Any pics/thoughts are appreciated :)

Here's the wheel, btw. Sorry, will get pics of it installed on my car later. Deluge the past couple of days off and on.

I am not sure what you are talking about. Because of the different aspect ratio's of the OEM tires, the 17", 18", and 19" wheel/tire combination for the various Genesis Sedan models are all pretty close to the same diameter. There are differences in the wheel sizes that can affect the brakes, which can have different caliper sizes.

Correct, but I didn't have OEM sized 18's. They were 235/45R18 and now I'm riding on 235/45R19. Yes, same tire sidewall height but now riding on a rim with a 19" vs 18" diameter. OEM 18's ride on 235/50R18 I believe to keep the diameter close to the 17 and 19.

My question is going from my 18's to OEM-sized 19's I almost feel like I need to lower now, but it could be just because I'm used to it riding one inch lower with my 18's. I'm looking for pictures/thoughts/opinions from others riding on OEM sized 19's (obviously beyond just the stock R-Spec) without a drop. Does it look good to you?

I found a few in the wheels thread but wanted to get thoughts from others with the set up I know have (aftermarket 19's without a drop). I guess that wasn't entirely clear from my first post.

You're fine. The only setups that look silly un-lowered are 20" wheels and any sized wheel that has any amount of lip at all.

Here's a crappy dark pic. Hopefully over the weekend I'll by at home during the daylight :(.

Anyways, doesn't look bad unlowered but may still pursue a set of springs. What's the consensus best choice? Ark? Most affordable seems to be M2, but I've heard: 1) They don't fit the sedan despite the website saying so. 2) Ride is horrible.

Eibach doesn't make a set either? Eibachs worked awesomely with my Elantra riding stock struts for 50k miles.

Never ever take the "affordable" route on suspension.

Dear Mr Zielritter,

I've seen pics of the sedans with 5 spoke wheels and was always left me with a ho-hum impression.

Unit now that is. Those wheels look awesome on your black Genny. Great choice.

As for lowered vs. stock ride height, I'd leave it alone, unless you have park assist. Doing battle with parking blocks and curbs usually results in a second place finish.

Again, nice car.

i think dropping it an inch would like great. I have the same question. I want to go with 19s but I think it might look funny if it isnt dropped an inch or so.

Thanks. Appreciate it. I got a great deal on TireRack during a closeout sale. I'm going to get more pics over the weekend.

I'm leaning towards lowering a bit. I have a garage and only park in parking garages on the rare occasions I drive into Cincinnati. My business gives me free garage access over the weekends too if I go to a game or something so the curbing issue shouldn't be a problem. I'm incredibly anal when it comes to parking. Not only do I park as far away as possible from other cars in any lot, I am also very conscience of how far I pull into a spot. Hopefully I won't hit any parking blocks when/if I lower. I've got exactly one, small dent on my Genesis over the past 2.5 years so I'm very careful.

It seems the only reputable springs available for the sedan are the Ark Racing and H&R springs. The latter is harder to come by, but they both drop more than are inch front and back.

Ark says their springs will work with stock shocks while H&R makes no such claim (anyone have experience running the H&R sports?). I ran an Eibach pro-kit on my Elantra for 30k miles and had no issue with wearing out my shocks.

A guy on a thread a read a while back seemed to be displeased with the excessive rake caused by the Ark springs, but the pictures didn't make it look like the rake was overly exaggerated. Anyone with any experience thoughts on the Ark or H&R?

yeah, i think we been thru this on a thread i started but there was a thread already started about it. only thing i can think of is the air suspension that garciafactory looked at their website. well over what i want to spend but if it is suited to the car then that would be an option down the road a lil ways. still saving up for wheels and tires.

Definitely not willing to shell out money for a full air suspension. I'm mainly interested in the cosmetics of lowering with possibly a side benefit of a slightly stiffer ride and less body roll.

The questions for me at this point are should I go with the Ark's or H&R? Will the H&R work with the stock shock and not blow it out in 10k miles?
