  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wow congrats! Tell us more about the car. How is drives and DETAILS! LOL :D
Comparisons to others cars you've driven. compared to your old car. Things like that. ;)

I'm really curious too. It's a Track edition so that's the car I want! How does it feel on I-5? I'm pretty sure the northwest states have the worst roads I've ever driven on as far as road noise and tram-lining. I say if the car feels good on roads like Interstate 5 then it's definitely a go.

Where are those pics again? Anyone can feel free to chime in.... I just didn't see 'em or something.

Wow~! nice~~ I went to a dealership 2days ago and they said no gen coupe is in any WA hyundai dealerships.....I guess they LIED!!!! I'm not trusting what dealership says from now on......Gratz!

First rule of being a salesman:

If out of stock, tell customer that no one else has one. If you don't carry that item, tell customer it doesn't exist or no longer made.

Yep, because rather than lose a potential sale due to acknowledging that item might be somewhere else what you really want to do is to get caught in a lie so there's no trust right off the bat!

Ha ha... I just had to say that, but it's not to rag on you in particular. I get why you do it. It just makes salesmen look stupid in my mind, as if a lot of them didn't already look dumb enough as it were. Generally speaking I know at least 17,000 times as much about cars as the salesman I've talked to.

I hope you are just being sarcastic...or my dealer doesn't know anything about sales because if they don't have what I want, they will call around to other dealers to see if they can aquire it for me. If your statement is true then no wonder why some dealers will go out of business in hard economic times.

well drove the car to work .It was pouring down rain with lots of standing water on the road. The never missed a beat very stable our roads are groved
from so much use and water lays in them never hydroplaned a bit. This car is fun and you get a lot of looks. The steering is very touchy and precise i owned a toyota solara before this what a difference two different cars.

Do you notice the power delay when shifting at redline? A lot of the mags have writeups this month and they mention is slows performance down noticeably in order to save the drivetrain.

i heard the "3-second delay in power" feature is going to ultimately make or break this car.

how retarded is Hyuandai for doing this !?!? if you don't know what i'm talking about just read below

Where the BS Stops
At the test track the 2010 Hyundai Genesis proves itself a worthy entry into the sport coupe segment by giving the pricier Infiniti a run in several categories. First, the Genesis tips the scales at just 3,488 pounds — 221 pounds lighter than the G37. Porkiness has long been a valid gripe about any car built on Nissan's FM platform and the G is no exception.

But being lightweight didn't help the Genesis coupe accelerate as quickly as we had hoped. The Genesis hit 60 mph from a standstill in 6.4 seconds (6.1 seconds with 1 foot of rollout like on a drag strip) and went through the traps at the quarter-mile mark in 14.5 seconds at 97.9 mph. That's considerably slower than the G37's 5.7-second run to 60 mph (5.4 seconds with 1 foot of rollout like on a drag strip) and its quarter-mile performance of 13.9 seconds at 101.4 mph.

Accelerating the Genesis quickly can be tricky because of a drivetrain protection feature built into its engine calibration. Shift the Genesis coupe aggressively at redline and you'll occasionally experience a power cut in your target gear which lasts 3 seconds.

The problem is exacerbated by the car's tachometer, which doesn't keep up with the engine speed in the first few gears, so it's too easy to run the engine to its 6,800-rpm maximum speed (redline is 6,500 rpm). Hyundai says the drivetrain protection is triggered at 6,800 rpm, but once it intervened, we experienced a power reduction in the next gear at much lower engine speeds. Run this V6 to the rev limiter in any given gear and it will hang there comfortably. But if you shift hard and quickly at the indicated redline, you'll occasionally be punished with that cut in power.

Hyundai is considering a new calibration, but there are cars going on sale that incorporate this 3-second power intervention, a feature that can punish drivers at engine speeds well below redline. Some people won't notice it, but to others it could be a deal breaker in the purchase of a Genesis 3.8 coupe.

carlos nice

Just to be fair, Hyundai isnt the only company doing this. Just so you know.

this wont be a problem when the ecu gets hacked.

Its also probably a fly/drive-by-wire system which might make some shift delays noticeable.
