My Genesis has sat in the driveway, for almost two years....unless driven by my wife on one of the two days she works.
Because I had been racking up miles so fast, I decided to get a 2nd car, and try to ease up on putting miles on the Genesis.
The 2012 VW GLI, I had for 19k, miles was traded in on a 12 Golf R. As soon as VW announced bringing the R to the states, I went and put a deposit down at my dealer......
R came in a couple months ago and about 3 weeks ago, I sent it to Alabama so APR could install their Stage 3 turbo kit, clutch, and 3" turbo back exhaust. Should be just over 400hp when I get it back next week. Yippie!
Anyways, since the R has been gone, my daily driver has been the Genesis again. Still love it! I've considered selling it a few times, but when it comes down to it, I just can't do it. I love the styling, ride, power, etc....
Back to the topic:
I had to have the start button and door lock/unlock button (on the outside) replaced. Luckily, I purchased the 100k mile bumper to bumper extended warranty for $1,600.00, back when I bought the car.
The total bill for the two buttons was over $800.00 and I had to pay $106.00
Seeing as I still have 30k more miles of warranty left, I'm feeling pretty good about keeping the car and about my decision to buy the extended warranty.
While my car was in service, they gave me a new genesis as a loaner...
I remeber, back in 2009/2010, all the discussion about why get the V* over the V6, when the V6's performance was similar, etc....Well, my observation after driving a non-tech pkg V6:
1. I can absolutely tell a difference in performance between my V8 and the new V6. Especially from a standstill. I would have sold my genesis a long time ago, had I not bought a V8. I get that most people here are not worried about 0-60 times, or hp. Those people would probably disagree with 100%, which I understand.
2. The lower end stereo doesn't sound nearly as good as the one that comes in a "tech pkg" equipped car.
3. I do wish I had a 2010 with the adaptive cruise control....I would use it on a regular basis. Probably the lane departure too.
4. I also like the option of the auto-hold brake, so wish I had that.
5. sorry, but the styling of the newer genesis's doesn't appeal to me as much as the 2009-2010's. They look cheaper IMO.
All in all, I've had great luck with my car. Hasn't ever left me stranded and everything still works as it should. *Knocking on wood*
