  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I read this in korean article where a number of korean owners reporting clutch failure in stock 2.0t.

Apparently, it happens while driving as clutch tends to disengage and keeps slipping resulting in rising in rpm but car not going any where. The clutch and flywheel assembly seems completely normal when disassembled..

Another known problems include :
massive rattling that requires replacement of front door molding
oil leak

..............first fresh year model.... first fresh engineering...... first fresh problems.....

Any word on Hyundai covering this under warranty? I would assume so but you mention clutch and flywheel appear normal.

My bets are 10:1 that it is owners (or their children) doing burnouts or trying to 'drift' and are glazing the clutch. It's kind of hard to get a clutch wrong, but who knows. At least a lot of these possible issues are already recognized and Hyundai seems to have a good track record with keeping things running smooth. Yay for super warranties!

The owners report that it happens under normal driving. Like I said, when all of these clutches were pulled out, they looked completely normal (which means the discs aren't fried from burning the clutch).

Thankfully, hyundai replaces them anyway under warranty.

looks like exedy and act will have to adress this problem heh.

Hopefully it didn't make its way here if they made the required changes to prevent it before the US release.

I decided to hold off on purchasing my coupe for a few months until the bugs are ironed out like they did in the sedan. Figure it'd be a nice Christmas present to myself too. :)
