  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am really loving the new Genesis Coupe (Track). At first, I was sure that if I bought one, I'd want the 3.8 V6 simply because I'd have plenty of power right off the lot. Now, I am not so sure.

I'm looking for a sexy car that is affordable, decently powered and fun to drive. I'm considering the 2.0T now for the following reasons:

1.) It's cheaper.
2.) It should handle at least slightly better than the V6.
3.) More room under the hood, making it easier to work on.
4.) The intimidating sound of a turbo
5.) Getting the most attention from the aftermarket.
5b.) The modding potential.
6.) I can get the two-tone red and black seats stock.

My biggest concern with the V6 right now is handling. If there is only a nominal difference in handling between the V6 and the 2.0T, the V6 may start winning my decision again. It would be nice to have the stock power of the V6 and not have to worry about modding my car just to get a decent amount of power out of it.

So, what are your opinions? Does anyone have an accurate comment in regards to the differences in handling between the two different packages?

PS: Just in case anyone wants to input an opinion on color, I am considering white, red or the blue (not the baby blue though).

Thanks in advance.

1. between 2.0T and V6 tracks, the diff is $2750 and tax? Not really that much considering you're looking at cars.
2. The difference is minimal. You'll feel it a little when turning due to the extra weight. May have to ease off the gas a tad more in the V6 but you'll have the power to speed up right after.
3. Not sure about this. Looking at both engines in the bays, work space didn't look much different. But I didn't shove my arm into the bays to find out. heh.
4. Can't hear the turbo or BPV until you remove the intake silencer or get an aftermarket intake.
5. There are a few companies working on the V6. It's easier and cheaper, for individual parts, to up the power on a turbo car than an NA.
5b. I think the potential on a turbo car is bigger because the engine is de-tuned to accomodate the extra air the turbo adds. Atleast that's what I learned when I had a WRX. Dunno how de-tuned the 2.0T engines are on the GC.
6. I sat in the red cloth /black leather seats. I actually prefer the all cloth seats. But it's personal preference. I do like the look of the Red/black though. I need to Lime green/black for my car or something heh.

Color is personal preference. Get the one YOU want. Don't let anyone persuade you to get something other than your first choice. Also if you really want MiraBlue, you have to get the V6 but to red/black seats.

If you are already thinking this, you might as well as get the V6.

Oh the 2.0T also runs on 87. Both do show some gains when upping the octane.

Thanks for the info! I went and test drove the V6 yesterday and the salesman that rode with me really got on it when he drove it and I got on it when I drove it. It was awesome. However, he said that he would get the 2.0 and I do believe it would be fun to mod the 2.0.

I'm particular about torque in my car and it seems like when it comes to torque, there is no replacement for displacement. Yea, I could increase boost and get a bigger turbo as well as other things but with these things wouldn't really increase torque too much would they? And even if they did, wouldn't it have a delay to it while the turbo is spooling up?

Thanks again!

from what i've read on the forums and in magazines as well as online, tuning the 2.0T gives it an immense amount of torque
