  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looks to me like the gas mileage on both of these cars is pretty much the same, can anyone comment on this?

No, the 2.0 will be better on mileage. The 3.8 better on performance.

I have personally drove the 2.0T Premium, the 2.0T R-Spec and the 3.8 Track. I cannot comment on gas mileage but the consensus seems to be that the 2.0T will have better gas mileage.

As for helping you decide on which car to get, the 2.0T feels superior in all aspects. It sounds better, it has a very nice feel to it when the turbo kicks in and it doesn't rumble as much as the 3.8, it's a very smooth and mature ride when you want it to be.

Honestly, I was dead set on getting the 3.8 because it looks superior on paper compared to the 2.0T. However, I'm glad that I gave the 2.0T a test drive because it just feels better; it doesn't even feel like the same car.

After test driving quite a few of these (I have 6 Hyundai dealerships within just 30 miles of me), I have decided to get the 2.0T. This decision has NOTHING to do with the price but simply the performance of the car.

I've read other people's reviews and a lot say that the 3.8 is the go to car if you want performance. I don't know how they were driving it but this is just NOT the case. Either they're just spewing BS or going off of just specs on paper alone, without actually driving the 2 cars, I don't know. I can vouch the the 2.0T is the superior car, and that's not even factoring in how much less it costs yet.

Now, the 3.8 does have its perks. At 60mph and above, the extra ponies definitely help. I guess if you like starting off at 50-60mph then the 3.8 would be the winner here. Note that the 2.0T's turbo kicks in at a little bit above 2,500rpm, on the other hand you wont feel any kind of pull from the 3.8 until around 6,000rpm. The turbo just pulls A LOT more and will still have this advantage once you mod it for more horse. You can't really do much with the V6.

Also, if you're interested in modding your car, it's nice to go with the turbo option.

FYI - apparently no more 2.0T for the '15MY coupe.

And the 3.8 replaces the GT w/ a higher end Ultimate trim.

BTY, it looks like you're comparing a 2.0 R-Spec and a 3.8 Track on performance? The 2.0 R-Spec is a good 300 pounds lighter than the 3.8 Track, and with manual and a turbo kick, it probably feels faster for sure, and probably is. However, I think you should try a 3.8 R-Spec ;) It's at least 200 pounds lighter than the 3.8 Track, has the manual, but has the same horsepower stock as the Track. So, the best comparison would be the two R-Spec models.
