  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

$20 modification for non-smokers

Just wondering, is it safe to use the cigarette lighter to charge a phone or gps? Any difference compared to the plug in the glove compartment?
The lighter is what plugs into the socket, and not the socket itself.

Yes it is safe (I have done it many times for long periods of time). I thought it is the same as other 12V sockets.

I got my flashlight from Amazon.com yesterday. Awesome--simply awesome!
I showed it off to many of my colleagues because they have a cigarette lighter but don't smoke. I'm amazed at the amount of light it gives off for being so small. Thanks to forum for making it known.

I purchased the Coast 7575 Rechargeable Flashlight Auto LED recommended by Seattle Genesis earlier in this thread and found it did not fit my 2010 3.8 Sedan. It's very nicely machined, looks great, and has a nice weight that makes it feel substantial.

Unfortunately, it fits loosely into the cigarette lighter and doesn't make electrical contact. Consequently, the flashlight doesn't charge.

I found it does charge in the power outlet inside the center console near the USB port, but it does not charge in the cigarette lighter.
UPDATE: I ordered the flashlight QQ007 pictured at the start of this topic and it works great. The amount of light this little flashlight gives off is amazing. Much brighter than the better looking flashlight that does not fit the Genesis cigarette lighter for me.

Thanks for the feedback ProNoob!
Has anyone else had this problem? I'd rather have the blue glow and I'm about to put it on my Amazon wish list but want to make sure it'll work. I'm wondering if ProNoob just received a defective one?

Thanks just ordered 2 of them.... 1 for the Genesis and one for the wifes car.

Problem. Fits too loosly in the cig outlet to charge. Oh well, I'll put it in the console.

I sell these in my store. The thing I like about these is that it's submersible. They demo'd this by turning one on and dropping it in a fish tank. I've seen them go through the washing mashine and everything, and they will still operate like nothing happened. Pricing has a LOT to do with the LEDs you get. A flashlight is NOT a flashlight. You've got to consider wattage and lumens (light output). These things have an amazing amount of light output.
