  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2009-2014 Sedan Paddle Shifters, anyone?

Finally found a shop that maybe is willing to work on it, as I have not had the time to work on it myself, way too many projects ;)..

Yeah baby!!!

Update: disaster struck again! :(

They started with taking the center console apart and decided they do not want to splice the transmission harness/cables!!

Oh well, on to the next guy/shop!!!

Damn man, that sucks. I was hoping you would've had luck with this guy

Everybody is afraid to modify this car. So much love for the coupe where is the sedan aftermarket...

It's inherent to this vehicle segment. The coupes were cheaper to begin with and more sport oriented so buyers were more likely to modify them although having owned a Gen Coupe for 4 years I found more and more enthusiasts were willing to modify as they started buying the cars second hand. There were a lot more sedans sold than coupes so I'm sure as more and more of these cars hit the used market and get picked up by enthusiasts we will see a growing aftermarket.

Why not just swap on the Coupe steering wheel? In some trims they use the same clockspring, IIRC the Tech package is what changes it.

I picked up a Coupe clockspring and a 2011 4.6 Tech clockspring to see what the real differences were:

- The forward facing section, orientation is 180-off, but, the air bag leads are the same and the front plug is identical.

- The rear side of the clockspring is where most people would dismiss it, but look closer. The plate that contains the white plug is just clipped to the clockspring and if you look at the placement of these clips and locating tabs, you will see the Sedan clockspring has them as well, in the same positions. All of the other plugs are the same too on this side.

The unknowns are how it will react to the adaptive cruise control.

Update: I finally found a high end garage that is willing to attempt this install for me.

Hopefully I should have some good news very soon, stay tuned...

Looking forward to seeing what come out of this!

The install of both the blind spot detector and the shifter kit should be completed next Week, I hope to post an update as soon as I am able.

I would also be interested in the blind spot detectors.... that is a must for this car....

Well I just got her back and I must say I am very pleased with the outcome!

It was worth the wait:

First impressions, it does look OEM and does belong in the R-Spec, The 'new' shifters gives me the missing control without having to mash the gas and 'always' change to the lowest gear at any given RPM.

Latency during changes are almost none existent, which also nice!

example, at 40mph switching to Sport node, the transmission is in 6th gear, if I mash the gear I end up in 2nd gear, but with the shifters three clicks (-) in very rapid fashion (much faster than I can achieve using the stick in sports mode), in 3rd, while slowly increasing the throttle gives the driver more refined input as well as overall finer driving dynamics control. Finer things include the (+) and (-) are integrated into the dashboard lighting (including dimming).

Even with short drive I can now tell which gear the R-Spec is in without looking at the dash, something I was missing since I switched from the ZF to 8sp tranny.

I am pretty sure I will be using this feature on my daily drive and will post a video as soon as I am able.. :D

The project is a medium difficulty and it took a professional installer 6 hours to complete the project from start to finish. Unfortunately they ran out of time to complete the blind spot detector install.

Anyone interested in this mod. please feel free to pm me...

PS: Special shout out to 84FordMan for offering his assistance with this endeavor.

this is how they look at night:

Looks great! Need more details though including part numbers! Any issue with doing this on the ZF?

Thank you, IMO this kit actually looks better / more OEM like, than the G2 shifters! :p

The install should not be a problem with the ZF, the install details are scattered through out this thread, starting with post #1, which has the site that sells the Shifter kit. At the time I dealt with Alex who was both helpful and supplied me with the everything needed to install the kit.

Nice job. Now you need to post videos going up and down through the gears.

I sent a PM, I think, the website keeps messing up on me... Im interested.

Congrats David! You'll definitely like it, I know I like them on my 2G and use them whenever I can :D

As for a blind spot thingy .....meh, useless and annoying sometimes. Not many cars can keep up with an Rspec so, I wouldn't bother if I were you
