  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well that is the hard way to find this out. Apparently 2009 18" wheels from a 4.6 do not clear the front calipers. I did read extensively before I purchase these for snows. I am going to try a spacer, 5mm? I am not crazy about the idea but what else am I going to do.

The rears cleared fine, but should I put spacers all the way around to kepp it all consistent?

Hopefully this will help out others who are looking at stock winter wheels. When I get the spacers I will update.

As always any and all advice is appreciated.

do they look like this?

As I recall there were two different 18" wheels. One was an option for the v6 and one was Original equipment for the V8.

Yes they look like that, with the exception of little chrome pieces on the spokes near the lip of the wheel. But that's them.

I would see if there is a part number on the wheels, and then get it checked to see if they are the V6 or V8 wheels. The V8 has bigger brakes in front to help with 200 extra lbs on front end.

You must have the V6 18" wheel option which is made for the smaller brakes.

3mm spacers did the trick. The space between the calipers and the wheels is now ~1/8 inch. Full right lock, full left lock hard breaking and hard accelerating all are unrestricted. So I guess clear is clear. All's well that ends well. Thanks to all that responded and read.

Where di you find the spacers? I have the exact same problem.

You can find wheel spacers online from any number of vendors. Just pick a thickness (3mm-25mm is common) and find a set with our bolt pattern (5x114.3).
