  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I and not much of a fan of Genesis products. It took 7 full days to declare I need a new ECM. Has anyone experienced this? Its a total loss of value of the car. It's not a Mercedes or of Lexus quality if this is the case. If I was to order a used one who would install it? The new one $1700 installed is only guaranteed for a year. This is a highly undependable car and a risk to replace. Do they have to reprogram the module? Any other Genesis 2009 4.6 owners out there?

If it helps at all the ECM is easy to replace. $1700 seems steep for a new ECM, you could check out BTR since when you buy a tune it comes on a new ECM and is $950. So you'd end up with a new ECM and a performance tune for almost half the price of the new one you are looking into

What is BTR ? Who would install it. This is not my gig to install. if it doesn't run after I install then what? Time is money. if i was not my daily driver then i would have options.

If you can change a battery you can change an ECU.

You could possibly purchase a salvage yard ecu to use.

Worst case scenario you'd need to have the VIN and mileage added to the new ECU by someone if you don't go with a BTR.

Just checked and there is a specific PCM DTC code for mismatched VIN.
