  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2009 Genesis 3.8 sedan. I've had 107,000 trouble free miles. Now my mechanic tells me that oil is coming from the engine, through the solenoid, and into the electrical harness. The "engine is doomed, but I don't know when" he says.
Is this in fact the signal that the engine will fail? Has anyone had this problem and had Hyundai review the situation? Would they do anything? Will replacement of the solenoid and electrical harness stall the failure?

:welcome: to the forum.

This sounds like a useless mechanic with useless information. Here's a simple truth = all engines are doomed and will eventually fail. 1 mile... 1 million miles doesn't matter. We (people) are all doomed and we all die sooner or later too... later today or in 99 years. None of that tells us something we don't already know, nor can act upon.

Useful information would include: Identifying which solenoid. What part of the wiring harness. Why oil is leaking. Time and cost to correct the problem. The problem may indeed be something that would cost more than the car is worth to fix, but that is not evident from the information provided.

If you can get and share such details, then perhaps we can help.

My used dealer sold a genesis, car returned to dealer check engine, same issues. Has damage been done to the PCM as I have read or can I clean out the oil and see if that's the issue . Oil leak was solved ,so hoping not to have to do a harness
