  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm requesting some help from other 2009 4.6 owners to perform a quick test to determine if the steering wheel vibrates while idling in drive and the AC on. My steering wheel vibrates and the dealer isn't sure if it's a problem with my car or if they are made that way. He's trying to find a similar vehicle he can compare to. To perform the test, 1) start the car 2) turn on the AC 3)put left hand on the steering wheel 4) place foot on brake and shift into drive with right hand. 5) check if you notice steering wheel vibration once shifting into drive 6) alternate from drive to neutral and take notice if vibration comes and goes. My steering wheel vibration is very noticable and can get quite annoying in stop and go traffic. Annoying enough that I find myself shifting to neutral when stopped in traffic to make the vibration stop. Thanks in advance

Mine does not.

If it did, I would have my dealer replace the PS rack and/or pump under warranty.

nothing at all

Nothing here. But we do complain as to how much effort it takes to turn the wheel as well as the effort required to hold the wheel in a turn. I do not like the electric power steering.

Honestly, it takes greater force to turn the Genesis wheel that my 2011 Doge Ram 1500 and our 2008 Peterbilt tractor.

I do not like the electric power steering.

Actually the steering is both electric and hydraulic, like a very small number of cars. Most are either one or the other.

My passenger seat vibrates and trying to decide whether or not to take in. When you push on it, it is solid. Driving - vibrates with the road.

My 2009 V8/Tech has a little buzz in the steering wheel while the engine idles with the transmission in Drive. It does lessen slightly when shifting into neutral. And it's slightly more apparent when the A/C is running. I'd describe it as a vibration/buzz in the whole steering column assembly though, not a rotational back-and-forth only movement of the steering wheel rim. I can only feel it - I can't see any motion. It's smaller than other slushbox equipped cars I've driven too which is why I've never considered it a problem on my car. I don't feel similar buzzing/vibrations in the dash panel or other places so it's not a whole-car buzzing.

I took my car to a 2nd dealership to try and get the steering wheel vibration/buzzing fixed and was told it was a 'characteristic' of the car. Very disappointing.
