2009 Genesis asks me to grab steering wheel before starting..

First off I'd like to say how much I love my Genesis. Purchased one of the first black/black v8's to hit the USA and still driving it daily today. About to roll over 190k miles and still looks and (mostly) drives pristine! Twice now in the last couple months when pushing the button to start the car, the screen in gauge cluster asks me to grab or turn the wheel before it will allow me to start the car. Given the car is off at this point, you cant even turn the wheel..you just essentially apply some force to it. I've had the car since 2009 and it's the first i've ever seen this. Does anyone know what this is about?

Steering wheel position. It doesn't want you to start the car with the wheel all the way to one side or the other. Just set the key to ON (push twice with foot OFF the brake pedal) and give it a turn so it's not under load against the lock. So yeah, man up and muscle it off the lock.

If your wheel is not at or very near the lock and steering linking is not under tension, then you may have a clock spring issue.
