I have Genesis 2009 3.8 Sedan and was happy with the performance until now. Recently my brake & tail light stop working. There was no notification on the dashboard to show that the light are not working. I did not know this until one driver behind my car stop me and told me about the failure. So I took my car to the dealer to fix it.
The dealer told me that this light is LED light and need to replace the whole LED unit (driver and passenger side). There is no way to just replace the bulb. See attached picture of the part that dealer told me to replace. The dealer quoted more then $1000 to replace these two LED units. This is rediculous design from Hyundai on the high end car. I have more then 100K miles on the car so it is not under warranty.
Since this is a safety and legal issue to drive the car without the brake light. I don't have any other option but to fix this. I am not sure if this is known issue with other Hyundai car or most recent Genesis sedan and anyone else have similar kind of issue. I searched the forum and could not find this type of issue. Any help on this issue is really appriciated.
