  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2009 Hyundai Genisis had an engine light on and I needed to smog it. Code was an evap code. Took it to a shop who replaced gas cap, didn't fix the problem so they do a smoke test and found a leak in the vaccum lines. Seal leak, clear code. Engine light comes back on 3 days later. Car sat at shop for 2 weeks as they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. Engine light still on. They find another leak, fix it, clear code. The mechanic says just keep driving it to reset the computers and bring it back in a week and we will put it on the machine and see if it's ready. I read here that the Genesis has a drive test to reset the monitors. Take the car to Hyundai of Stockton. Week one they said it had another leak, took them to week 2 to find it. Seal leak, perform drive test, check engine light comes back on. They say there is another leak in the fuel neck. Week 3 they couldn't find a replacement part so they glued it and did another smoke test. Week 4 they say there's another fuel leak near the gas tank but can't find it. I owe them $1500 at this point. Hyundai suggest replacing all the lines and entire gas tank for another $3,000+ . I'm done with it at this point. All together both shop charged me a total of $1100 and it still won't pass smog. Not sure where to go from here but to just sell it as is!
