  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi,

I would like to know what can i do to get more power out of the engine. I love it and it has alot, but i was wondering what can i do to get more torque and horsepower.

Note, i don't want to void my warranty, so i can't really go play in the engine.

Thanks,

Nothing after market wise is supported by the manufacturer at all. Maybe there is a nice or cool dealer near you but they do not have any after market support that I have seen. I have however, installed a K'n'N drop in panel filter in my air box and have noticed an improvement in my fuel economy. I doubt that the power numbers have improved much but it does sound nice a little louder at WOT.

Just got a used 3.8 V6 w/ 11,000 miles and feel the power is pretty good, but would also like a little more power. I must purchased a KN air filter and a G-Force performance chip ($400 retail value), but thru the company $69. Both I haven't yet installed ( will let you know the results), but both companies guarantee that the warranty will not be voided. I should have some valid results by this weekend,

I totally agree with DeMan that a chip is not worth the money. Also a chipped car almost always voids the warranty.

I've chipped 2 vehicles that didn't void the warranty. Typically the warranty is only voided if the DIRECT malfuction is caused by aftermarket part. The 2 chips I bought were definitely worth the money, dropping my 1/8 mile (because I never got to a 1/4 mile track) times significantly, with slips to prove it.

Are you saying that the power gains/increases the chip manufacturer's claim are untrue (which is entirely possible)?

bolt ons will inmprove your fuel economy along with performance gains. lookinto getting your car flashed from SFR. they have great canned tunes for any boltons. if you want the most bang for your buck get an intake and a tune. you will be more then happy. but you want the whole deal? get headers, downpipe, catback, intake tune, fuel injectors. my friend had headers back and a tune, and hes avg a lil over 30 on a normal commute to work.

=) and if you're got money to blow, throw on a twin turbo =D

Your warranty was probably never voided because you didn't bring it to the dealer for any issues relating to a chip or PCM upgrade.

Dealers will also reflash your computer with the latest and greatest thing without telling you. They do this so your car will have the latest and greatest update from the factory.

You have some dummies buy an aftermarket chip and then go to the dealer to try and get there car repaired instead of talking to the person or place where you bought the chip.

Agree, but I went with Injen CAI, ARK Performance Grip V1 Catback with Downpipes, and a reflash from PowerAxel (who are now out of business). You can also do a PnP, and go with pulleys, throttle and intake manifold thermal spacers. That's about it. And depending on the state, headers and test pipes (cat removal). Turbo or supercharging = $7 - $10K, not including upgrading internals.
