  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Bought a pre owned 2010 Genesis 4.6 with 60k miles. I noticed on take off ( not every time) it seems as those after acceleration it slips a bit then jerks or hard shifts into 1st. All other gear shifts ok. Sometimes while coming to a complete stop the down shift is a bit jerky. Could this be a issue with throttle position sensor or something more serious? Anyone else experienced this? It is going to the dealer for 60k service in a few weeks. Any ideas?
Thanks.

My 2010 is smooth, especially once its warm. The only time I notice anything resembling hesitation is when starting the car cold up a hill where the 1 to 2 shift is noticeable but not jarring.

If it's not under warranty, buy one quick... if you can. Preferably before the 60k service.

one thing someone has said helps get the engine and trans computers to learn your driving
Drive it through the gears manually shifting up and down for several miles. I forget who posted that or where but it is said the transmission computer will learn and shift more accurately.

The easy "reset" of the car's computers (motor and transmission) is to disconnect the battery leads. Then connect the positive and negative battery leads together. You will probably not have enough cable slack to connect, and will require a simple jumper between the leads - any wire will do.
Hold the leads together for at least five minutes.
Reconnect the leads to the battery. Now the car will "relearn".
If this doesn't fix/cure your problem, then take it to your dealer.
This reset technique is useful on any car built after 1996 (post OBDII). Dealers use this too. I always carry a two foot length of wire for roadside resets.
If this technique is too complicated for you, just disconnect the battery leads for at least 24hours - same result.

Good day...Have you had any luck resolving or troubleshooting the hard 1st gear shift? Thx for any advice. How did/does cleaning MAF sensor have bearing? Thx

Hi unfortunately (or fortunately) I never had an issue with mine.

I also have the 1st gear hard shift , I did the manual shift for a time and that helps over all, but not 1st gear shift. It occurs when you do not come to a complete stop, bang. Live with it.
