If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

HI! Ted Here, and I'm a newbie to this forum.
My vehicle now has 100K miles on it, and it seems like she's due for a new set of plugs. The drivers side of the engine has easy access, but how does one access the passenger side? Will I require some new gaskets when the plenum cover is removed?

Is there any way to access a Workshop Manual for my car? I've tried checking around quite a bit and have come up empty on these questions so far.

all the best,
Ted:doh:

You need to remove the surge tank assembly/intake plenum to get to the RH spark plugs, please check the attached photos for ref.

HEY THERE V6 Tech!
Thank you very much! My Genesis is the most reliable vehicle ever. I have a set of spark plugs coming soon, and assume that new gaskets will be required below the "tank"? Should I look into cleaning sensors etc while the top stuff is removed?
I hope the attached photos come through OK....a couple of the oyz I'm working on Icecream Car.webpIcecream Car.webp

OOpppsss......too many pics of the Tijuana Taxi. It's a Baja Bug, with a reversed turning Corvair engine in it, headers, custom intake manifold with small Holley 4 barrel, and a bunch of other stuff. The car went from 40 HP to 140 HP. Also have a very low mileage Crossfire for my wife. In truth, the car is a Mercedes SLK320 with a Chrysler badge on it. Both are stored away until about April, when road and temperature conditions will improve.
I'm wondering if V6 TECH fellow works for Hyundai??
cheers,
Captain Salty Dawg

By replacing with the new gasket will eliminate any air intake leakage/rework in the future. I do not work for Hyundai, I just like to do maintenance and repair on my car. I've attached the torque spec for the ignition coil mounting bolt and connector info. Good luck and have fun with your spark plug replacement project!

HEY THERE "TECH"!
Thanks a lot for more info! Same as you, I enjoy doing the usual maintenance work on my own vehicles as well......and usually end up with a better project completion because I tend to look about for the unforeseen stuff. My garage is usually brimming with things to work on. Vehicles are getting so complicated with computerized data systems.....It's hard to keep up. I'm very impressed with my "old" Hyundai, and that it works so well. Horsepower is rather dramatic from a relatively small six banger. I see in the previous drawings that there is an induction resonator. I assume that is where the pleasant acceleration noises develop?
We lived in Panama, Central America for 7 years. I purchased a new Hyundai Diesel Terracan there with all the bells etc. What a GREAT VEHICLE! Too bad it never was imported to North America. We did a lot of off-road stuff in it, and it never missed a beat!
Is there a good way (inexpensive) to download a workshop manual for a 2010 Genesis Sedan 3.8?

cheers,
Ted

New spark plugs from ROCK AUTO are now installed. It's about a 2 hour job. The drivers side bank very easy, but passenger side required removal of the plenum etc. There is one hidden bolt below the plenum on the outboard passenger side. It took me 5 minutes to locate. While the plenum was off, I removed the throttle body and gave a good wash out with aerosol cleaner made for the job. All went back together without any real difficulty. The plenum to manifold gaskets were re-used, as they were still in good nick and pliable. A light coating of grease on them to help assure a seal. Torque specs on the plenum mounting bolts seems to be around 9.5 ft lbs. Gently does it with all these plastic parts.
The old plugs had over 100 K miles on them, and it appeared that their time was nearly done, due to transfer of metal from the center tip to the outer tip. ...but I'm no expert here. All is well, and the 3.8 engine running well.
When putting the plastic overall cover back on the engine, I noticed that one of the four rubber mounting grommets has been lost. Hmmm.....back to see the dealer??

cheers,
Ted

Good afternoon to anyone who has viewed/replied in the past. i wanna have a go replacing thw OEM spark plugs. When the plenum is removed, is it a hex tool needed? Like Tech suggested, I might as well replace the coils along with the upper gasket? Why is it so difficult to locate shop books or repair manuals for the sedan?
