  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Buying from dealer, figured I would post where people know their cars most! The Forums!

Can people just write a quick blurb like check if [insert] works. I am a previous Nissan owners and would know what to check (common problems) in Nissan's but not this line.

I want to make the switch can you all help me out?

Thanks in advance!

The 2010 is the non-GDI engine (2012 and up is GDI)

I'd look at the driver's seat cushion for excessively stretched leather. It's been a problem.

Also, I'd check the Nav Map database to ensure it is somewhat up to do. The latest revision is only $99, so you should be able to swing a free update from the dealer if it's out of date enough.

Transmission and differential fluid. Depending on the mileage, I'd compare the Hyundai maintenance schedule in the owner's manual to see how close you are to having to replace the fluid. Don't let anybody tell you that the transmission fluid is a "lifetime" fluid. That car has the 6-speed and I'd press for a fluid change if it hasn't been done at 60k miles. Same with the diff fluid.

Other than that, just the normal stuff that is applicable to all used cars; tires, brakes, etc.

If you are thinking of buying used, you should get the 2012+ model with upgraded engine and transmission (and other improvements). From what I see, there is not that much price difference between the 2010 and 2012.

I just purchased a 10 month old 2013 for around 21K.

I have a 2010 with the 3.8L v6 and im thinking of getting rid of it(73K miles on it now). The 3.8L has a cold start issue I think after it sits for prolonged periods of time. You can hear all the lifters (or so I think) for the first few seconds and then it sounds normal. If you shut the car off after driving it and turn it back in within an hour or two it will sound perfectly normal on start up. I think these cars have a oil system design flaw.

My 09 3.8 has the same, sounds like total shit for the first 2 seconds or so when cold. Sure doesn't make it sound like an upscale car when you're turning it on.

Are you using synthetic oil? I understand the design "issue" (oil filter is on top of engine bay and drains back into the crankcase when engine shut down), but I don't really hear any unusual noises on mine at startup. Maybe it is because my windows are closed, but not sure if is related to fact that I use synthetic oil.

I'm using full syn oil and still have that issue and have used full syn since I got the car.

Yeah, use Mobile 1 Synthetic. Can hear it inside with the windows open or closed.
