  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone, I am trying to help a family member who owns a 2010 genesis coupe with a radio / navigation screen issue. When I turn the car on, the screen is backlit with jagged horizontal lines going across the display. Eventually it turns to just a bright white screen. It never displays anything, including the backup camera feed. I pulled the headunit out of the car, and everything looks okay cable wise, all the circuit boards looks normal, no obvious burning or anything.

I am trying to fix this issue without spending a few grand on a new headunit, so I was thinking of getting just a replacement screen, part # LQ065Y5DG03. I am guessing it is either the screen itself or one of the connecting ribbon cables, although I am not entirely sure how those would go bad. Any ideas/past experiences?

Screens fail.
Cables fail.
Electronics driving the screen fail.

Without pulling the unit apart and doing some probing with an oscilloscope or substituting known good parts, it's all a guess to which one (or more) of the three it really is.

Well known issue. happened to mine, too. I assume most units on eBay have this issue, too. There was a service bulletin on this, but I'm out of warranty. So I'm putting a JVC head in it, with a Metra kits and iData Link Maestro so all controls work. Don't know if upper LCD will work, though.

I have the exact same problem. It first was intermittent where it would do this but when the temperature warmed up it would return to normal. That was a few years ago. It no longer works and the screen now looks similar to the picture you posted although there are times when there are coloured verticals lines that also appear. I was going to replace the LCD screen with an OEM part but I’m only guessing that this is the issue. Since it could be other issues as you described (ribbon cables, the screen itself) I’m wondering if you were able to get to the bottom of the issue since you posted this and if so what did you end up doing?

Thanks
Joe
