If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2010 Price Paid

Tommika here.
2010 4.6 with added Dealer Added Backup Sensors to compliment the Backup Camera,$34,700 plus Tax and Title.

I got mine in Florida,it seems the V-8 is not in demand there. I was visiting from S.Carolina and grabbed the deal because it was thousands less than Carolina.

What is that "Dealer Added Backup Sensors" that you talk about?
Was it a non-tech package V8?

There are a few leftover 2009s in our area... Are the dealers wheeling this or are they still sitting forever at current price?

An off kilter example, we were able to negotiate $11,000 off a new 2009 Volkswagen CC VR6 4motion that msrp was a little over $40,000. Before we jumped on it, I had to reconsider because I like the Genesis a little bit better :) Is it possible to get a similar deal on one of these

$11,000 off is a lot, and I don't think you can get that much off of an '09 Genesis. Maybe more like $7~8k off.

True, but the Genesis is considerably roomier and IMHO, more car for the money, than the CC, which is just a sheet metal modded and optioned up Passatt. In fact, in Europe, it is sold as a Passat...in the U.S. they drop the name and just go with CC, to differentiate it in price. I've read the CC still isn't meeting sales targets in the U.S., some say because it is only a 4 seater, others say it is the price in comparison to the Passat. That is probably why they are being so deeply discounted.

For those that want it, the CC has 4WD which isn't offered on the Genesis.

FYI, KBB has about the same value for a 2009 V6 Genesis as it does for the 4motion CC, so if you can get the CC cheaper, you do better in residual. Having said that VW hasn't had the best reliabilty record on some of it's cars so if you are going to keep it past the warranty period, or if reliability is important to you, the Genesis might be the better choice. The 2009 CC reports 113 repair trips per year, at TrueDelta, vs. the Genesis's 49. Also, the Genesis comes with the better warranty.

Contrary to what you said, Ive read the CC is very successful. The reason for the deep discount is the number of people choosing the cheaper 2.0T over the VR6 is astronomical. VR6/4motions just sit. I realize the Genesis offers more for the money, but there truly is no car that beats the Genesis in value. Not to belittle the brand or the great job they have been doing lately, it is still a Hyundai in the eyes of most. I do think the CC has the Genesis beat interior wise; the cornsilk appointment we sat in was amazing.

Warranty is not much of an issue. I have considered the costs of maintaining a German car and it will be driven quite sparingly as the wife and I already have daily drivers. Our budget is right at the $30k mark...I was wondering how much Genesis I could afford with a discount on our budget (had my fingers crossed for the V8)

I like the looks of the CC a lot. I think it is one of the best looking VW's ever. Having said that, it wouldn't work for us.

Part of what it comes down to is how you will use the car. The CC is referred to as a coupe (despite having 4 doors) because of the sloping lines. The sloping roofline degrades rear seat head room considerably. If you don't plan on putting anyone back there taller than 5 foot 6 inches it is probably fine. One of the reasons we picked the Genesis was because we planned on using the car with other people in the car, friends and family. Our son's are all over 6 feet tall and when we go out on a date with another couple we want to be able to drive them around in comfort. Our other car is an Acura TL and I have to scooch my seat up into an uncomfortable position when driving with taller people in the back...not at all acceptable for longer trips.

One should always consider reliability as a factor in long term cost. With reliability there are two things to consider. Will it break down and how much will it cost you if it does. The VW CC is more likely to have a break down and German dealers (including VW) are notoriously expensive. On the other hand, if you sell the car before the warranty runs out, this is not a factor. I have several friends who lease BMW's and don't worry about their reliability issues because they replace them every few years.

Re: Need Advice on possible purchase of "09" Genesis

That looks like a good price for a premium. I paid $400 more.

Might just not be available with a particular exterior color. Car companies refine options to reduce costs and deliver the most popular based on customer purchases...sometimes even mid model year.

Supposedly there were spring, damper rate and bushing changes to refine the suspension in 2010. Some have reported that it didn't make much difference, others that it did.

The issue is that it can feel unsettled. Some people misinterpret this as it being too stiff, but it is more of an issue with inadequate damping for the weight and spring weight which can cause the vehicle to pitch too much over some surfaces.

IMHO, it isn't a deal breaker, but I would pay extra to get a suspension that was more optimized. I plan on driving an 2010 and if there is a noticeable improvement, I will buy the newer components.

Thanks for the feedback! I am going to the dealership tomorrow to deal on the car let's hope for a good outcome?:) I want to see if they'll drop the car to 29k? That will be about 7k off the msrp sticker I think. They said the car has sat on the lot for a year:eek: that's crazy I hope they're desperate to move it tomorrow.

I'll let everybody know if things work out.

$37,509 -- 2010, 4.6 + tech package, 36mo lease, $917 due at signing (includes 550 first payment).

Are you SURE you have the Tech Pkg.? Quick test: can you play a DVD?

Just got the car YESTERDAY :-)) Have not had time for anything including DVDs, Bluetooth, GPS. Just drove it around a bit and took it to work today.

About Tech. package -- I do have rear-view camera and touch screen GPS, Lexington audio system. So I guess I must have it, right? Surely was shopping for one. I had some questions about cooled seat in a separate thread though.

No, you don't have it if you've got touch screen.

It's very important you look at the sticker on the car when you take delivery. A fully loaded 2010 V8 Tech will run right under 44k

In the other thread, you both mention "Circle Pricing". Is that the same as HAPP (Associate Pricing)? I've never heard of it, but if so you're right (other thread): he should've paid under invoice not over.

Can you repost the Circle "quote" details again? I'm pretty sure others will agree that "they" got it wrong on the MSRP and invoice prices, but the dealer should've known better.
Thx.

Year/Model: 2010/Genesis
Package: Technology Package
Color: White satin pearl
MSRP: 40300

I realize it now. But to me sticker looked "normal" because it had many things listed separately that I thought should have been included in the tech. pkg. Plus, I had this PIN Certificate printed from Hyundai Circle, and it says on it "technology Package". Plus, the sales person confirmed to me verbally that the car had tech. pgk, even as I called him today to find about how the cooling seat worked.

The dealer says that the deal has gone to the bank (and it's a lease) so they are not sure if they can do anything.

Anybody has any ideas? Call corporate?

No, call Circle Pricing or email them with the details of the problem. If no satisfaction there then corporate is an option. It's likely they'll stonewall you (and ultimately this is your fault for not knowing the difference before you drove off), but you never know.

Sad story for sure, and maybe others will have different suggestions for you.
Good luck!

You didn't pick the right options under circle, thus your non-tech V8. If the dealer gave you the lower one instead of a V8, you may have something, but you won't get anywhere because you made the mistake.

In your shoes, if I really wanted the tech - I would either try to swap the lease to someone, or ride it out for half a year and get the 2011 by trade-in. Maybe you'll come up ahead on the latter.
