  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey fellow genesis owners,

I have had my 2011 4.6 for several years now with no issues. Recently the fuel pump left me stranded and I had to get it towed and replaced. Had the oil changed at the same time. After these repairs, when I put the car in drive and start to accelerate, there is a rumble sorta gurgling type sound at low rpms, starts at about 1400 then it suddenly goes away around 1800-2k. It does not seem to happen in 1st gear but in any other gear it is very consistent. The sound only happens when vehicle is in gear and accelerating. It sounds alot like exhaust noise but I cannot seem to find any holes and since everything sounds completely normal when parked and revving the engine I am not sure if exhaust could be the problem.

There are no lights in the dash and the transmission works great. The car is awesome no complaints besides this sound which I know is not normal

Anyone insight would be helpful.

Just trying hoping to have some idea before having a mechanic try and swindle me.

When your car was towed, how was your car hooked up to the truck? I really hope they didn't tow the car with the rear drive wheels on the ground. That's a NO NO and and could cause damage to your drive train.

Did you find out what the problem is? I am having the exact same problem just replaced the fuel pump and it’s doing what it did when the fuel pump went out.

Sadly no. I just have to find a time to take it into a dealer. If I use the manual shift I am able to avoid the 'issue' if i keep my RPM above 2k. The car seems to want to get into 5th gear as soon as possible and that is when the issue is the 'loudest'. It also seems to depend on how much gas i am giving it. I can accelerate slowing through the problem zone without hearing anything but if i give it more gas i hear it.

Check the drive shaft bearing for wear.
