  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am wondering if there has been a privately owned Equus on the Nürburgring yet? I know that Hyundai test there occassionally...

There has been now :)

The issue I described here Reducing/disabling the seatbelt pretensioner system was very annoying during the whole lap! I still would like to find a way to reduce or disable this

Congrats on your drive. In 2007 I picked up a BMW e92 335i in Munich and after a week in Austria hit the 'Ring on my way back north in Germany. Unfortunately it was a rainy day and the track was about to close when I arrived. No 'Ring photographers still shooting. I went around slowly once to reconnoiter, and then they closed the track. Based on some videos I've seen it doesn't look like rain still closes the road. It did then. I tracked the car in the US on four different tracks and have some very nice corner shots on them, but would have liked something 'for the record' on the 'Ring.
All that said...there is no comparison between a performance sports coupe and my '16 Equus. Apples and oranges. The BMW was a taut and athletic track machine right from the factory. The Equus is not designed for tracking and isn't comfortable on a track. The BMW wasn't made for a luxury ride, cabin space and creature comforts. They both do well what they're designed to do.
What were your impressions of the Equus on the 'Ring?

So, I actually took the Equus on the ring for two more laps in the wet - Other than not being able to turn traction control off (Yet) It was quite fun and will be a monster sideways machine once I can.

In the dry it leans a bit on the front wheels so it tends to understeer, but in general it's quite balanced. In the wet it feels quite a bit nicer, but the steering lacks feel ... It's totally out of it's element! Still, nothing like taking something not meant for the track and hammering it :-)

LOL, I hear you. The old saying is that it's more fun to drive something slow, fast, than to drive something fast, slow. But still...I gotta tell you, it pains me greatly to even think of attempting to drift my Equus. And "hammering"??? Ouch! Get yourself a nice Miata MX-5 (my current other car) and have the time of your life!

This is about the best drift photo I found, I won't pay for it as it's not a very good slip angle:

But yeah, you mean like my Miata? ... :D

Before it was repainted:

Now you're talking. The second photo shows an awesome drift -watch out for the kerb! Nice looking NA, mine's an ND. Looks like you and I own the full gamut of automotive iron. (The Equus weighs almost a thousand pounds more...than TWICE what my ND weighs.)
