  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a shake in the steering wheel but only on certain Road surfaces, I change both wheel bearings, checked and the rotors and calipers seem fine they're not hanging up, rotated tires around, this shake seems to be between 60 and 75 and then goes away when above those speeds, the wheel bearing seem to help quite a bit but the shake is still definitely there. I have heard there may be a loose suspension part but I can't find it anybody have any ideas where any other troubleshooting I may have missed, I have red motor mounts might be the issue but I don't see how that could be considering it is speed dependent and the only moving Parts in the front end are the wheel bearings and rotors and tires help please!

First off, what year Genesis and how many miles? I would start by having the tie rods and ball joints checked for play, check for excessive bouncing with the shocks and get an alignment. If the front end components are worn and loose the wheels can move around going down the road, bad shocks can cause excessive compression and rebound events making the tires bounce off of the road. Also check that the tires aren't cupped or feathered and the balance is fine. That's what I would do.

Thanks for your response, it is a 2011 with 104000 miles on it. I've inspected the shocks and ball joints and replace front ends on many Vehicles throughout the years and this just doesn't show any signs of the ball joints or tie rod ends or shocks being bad. The vehicle drive down the road perfectly straight so I don't think it's the alignment either however I'm going to take off the front wheels again and go through all the different possibilities I guess

I also noticed that the bushings in the front upper control arms do seem to wear before the rest of them. Other than that, the engine mounts could potentially cause a vibration in the wheel since the steering rack and motor mounts are bolted to the subframe and it doesn't happen until you get higher in the RPMs and more load on the engine but that could be a long shot.

Thank you for the lead I doubt it's my engine mount because I'm really not tacking many RPMs, but I will definitely check out the bushings you talking about Thanks

Wow bearings were already needed. At 220,000 miles our 2011 4.6 was still as solid and vibration free as it was when new. Never needed any suspension parts. Alignment was always perfect. I did have a problem once with a set of tires and it ended up that three of the four tires in the set were bad, so rotating tires front to back did not solve the problem. A new set of tires solved it.

Similar to homeofstone, I drove my 09 4.6 to 205k miles. The only time I experienced vibration like you mentioned was when my tires' treadlife got low. Only happened at moderate highway speeds. New tires resolved it. I ran Conti PureContact EcoPlus tires which typically lasted me 60k miles, but the last 5k-10k miles or so, I'd get a similar wheel vibration.
